Okeanos- The Sea's Alchemist

This is a story based on the animated, non-Brotherhood series, revolving on Winry and a character created by (but not quite based on) myself.

Chapter 1

Rain fell in thick sheets over Resembool. Just the way I liked it.

My hood wasn't waterproof, and my drenched, blue hair stuck to my forehead. Lovely weather.

I smiled and held out my right hand, allowing the drops to land on it, "It's been a while, Resembool."

I walked along the path, up to where I had expected there to be a house. All I found were saturated, blackened timbers.

I glanced around, and dimly made out the shape of another house, this one still standing. The Rockbell residence. I decided to make my way towards it.

Once at the door, I stopped, unsure of what to do. I pulled off my hood and knocked. An old lady opened.

"Are you Pinako Rockbell? Can you direct me to the Elrics?" I asked.

She stared blankly at me, "Yes, and no. The Elrics are all gone."

My eyes widened, "Dead?"

She looked down, slightly, although it was hard to tell past her thick glasses, "All but the youngest, Alphonse."

"Where is he?"

She shrugged, "Who knows? I'd expect he would be in Central or Lior."

I looked at the ground, "I guess my journey's all been for nothing, then," I looked up, slightly, "Can I spend the night here?"

"Of course he can!" came a voice from behind. I looked inside. There stood a beautiful, dark-skinned girl with purple eyes and two-toned hair.

My mouth dropped slightly, "Thanks… what's your name?"

She smiled, "My name is Rose, but you should tell me your name before asking."

I slapped my forehead, "Oh right. They call me Okeanos. I am an alchemist."

Pinako took a puff from her pipe, "Well, come on in."

I smiled and stepped inside. Noticing how wet my coat was, I hung it on a peg outside.

Rose smiled kindly at me, "Would you like something to eat?"

I shook my head, "No, I'm not hungry." I thought for a second, "Although it's always after I say that that I feel hungry again."

Rose smiled again.

I felt like I was forgetting something, "Oh! Where is Winry?"

Pinako looked up at me, "You're…"

Winry was exasperated and exhausted. She had spent the whole night awake, and was just making it to Resembool as the sun was rising.

She slowly stepped out of the train, not feeling very optimistic. After all, both Edward and Alphonse had disappeared into an alternate reality, leaving her alone without them.

Tears mingled with rain as they streamed down her face. Her shoulders shook with anger and sadness, and when she couldn't hold it in any longer, she tilted her face toward the heavens and unleashed a scream of frustration.

"Edward you idiot!" She pounded her head and began running, "Why did you leave me! And willingly, too!"

She was soaked to the bone by the time she made it home. She stepped inside without knocking and was greeted by the sight of a stranger wringing out his long ponytail. Me.

When I saw her, my mouth opened wide in a huge smile, "Winry!" I ran over to her and picked her up in a big hug, "It's so good to see you!"

She was still in a daze when I put her back on the ground, "Who are you?'

I laughed, "It's been fifteen years, but does the name Canas remind you of anyone?"

She though for a while and then slowly looked up, "Canas Elric."
