Yesterday morning, Sam woke up to the radio blaring on his bedside table. As usual, he had pressed the snooze button, effectively silencing the device and whatever bad song it was playing that morning. He never much cared for the radio anyway. It went off again fifteen minutes later and that time he got up because if he didn't he would be late and for some reason that just wasn't something he could ever tolerate.

He had a shower like every morning and everything was perfectly normal until he got to school and was promptly kissed by Kurt Hummel. On the mouth. In public. Where people could see them, which they did and oh god Sam's life was officially over.

"That was a dare." Kurt said, with a wink before grinning and turning on his heel and walking away from a very surprised Sam. People had already begun to whisper about the scene filling out and he blushed. It took all of his will power to keep walking into the building instead of booking it back to his car and driving to the next state over.

Everything was normal for the first two periods, normal being a relative term. Normally, people were not whispering about how Sam was involved in a kiss in which both parties were male, but perhaps that was a normal occurrence there at McKinley. He wasn't really sure. He hadn't been there very long. But he seriously doubted it.

Then third block rolled around and Sam dreaded walking into French and taking his seat. The teacher demanded that the students sat in alphabetical order, and each desk housed two students. Much to Sam's luck (or dismay, however sadistic you might be) there were no students in the class with a last name between E and H. Meaning Sam sat next to Kurt. And he would have to. For one hour. Sixty minutes.

It was surprisingly... not awkward though. Sam sat down, a few seconds before the bell rang, Kurt flitted into the room and they didn't talk for the first half of class. Then Sam got the courage up to finally asked. He cleared his throat and looked at Kurt sideways, turning his head ever so slightly.

"So... a dare?" he asked and Kurt laughed at him, closing his eyes and smiling softly.

"A dare." Kurt confirmed turning his head ninety degrees and opening his eyes. The blue popped against the ivory of his skin and Sam noticed, unable to tear his own eyes away.

"Who dared you?" Sam asked, eyes not blinking, locked on Kurt's pupils. Kurt laughed and broke the eye contact, shaking his head.

"Keep a secret?" he asked, crossing his arms. Sam nodded in reply, silently, finally deeming it an appropriate time to blink.

"I dared myself."

The bell rang and Kurt smiled, grabbed his books and left. Sam didn't see him for the rest of the day.

It's morning. Sam has been tossing and turning all night, the kiss replaying in his mind. He doesn't care that he's tired, he only cares about the dare, the kiss. Kurt.

Kurt. He's definitely a weird topic for Sam. Before yesterday, Sam had barely noticed him at all, but with lips to lips, a wall had been knocked down. Now Kurt's the only thing on his mind.

Sam remembers just before going to bed for the night he dared himself to kiss Kurt back sometime that day. He isn't sure if he'll go through with it. But empty promises lead to full ones, so he waits. He waits for the alarm to go off and the awful songs on the radio to blare into his room so he can press snooze and wait for another fifteen minutes before having a shower.

Outside the world is silent.
