Disclaimer: I don't own Devil May Cry nor do I own the Avengers.

This is AU for the Devil May Cry, Vergil did not stay for very long in the Demon World. Let's just say that Dante was less compliant then he was in the game about leaving behind his twin and leave at that. I tweaked somethings here and there, but other than that everything went as it did. There will be a prequel coming soon.

Author's Note: Yes I did rewrite this, I made no forewarning do to the fact that it was a sudden decision and it would take me twice as long to write it. I didn't change the summary because I'm lazy, and it still fits with the plot. :/ If you feel need to question me on my decision, then you can PM-me.

The Summoning

October 31st

Rain pounded unforgiving unto a slab of stone, Mother Nature already starting to corrode the freshly planted tombstone. Chrysanthemums were placed at the foot of the stone, a quote carved into the stone was clear as day: "The greatest hero of us all, lies in body – but remains forever in our hearts." It was nearing the witching hour; the preparations have already been into precaution, and soon…

Soon, the world will decay unto its full potential – that primal form in which only the strong remaining standing whilst the weak whither away onto nothingness. The world will return to praising the superior species (as it should be, and as it has always been since the dawn of time), and because of the lack in faith within the pathetic beings that have infested the world – there will be nothing to stand in the way.

The bell goes off, inaudible to human ears but to the unnatural (inhuman – demonic) ears it rings loudly.

Boom, a deep hollow echoes unnervingly

Wild animals perk (twitch) their ears and stand still for a moment before turning tail to run as far away as possible. Dogs bark, howl, and whine at the thick supernatural sulfur in the air (although minimal – unnoticeable to human detection). The cats, all felines really, remain vigilant; their eyes glow eerily under the ominous moonlight. Its shining luminescent glow is nothing but a warning of unforeseeable future. (Much like that night where two brothers battled fiercely: one for power and the other for humanity.)

Boom, the sound, so deep and ominous…

The hairs on both feline and canine stand on end and a growl/hiss/yowl at the very same direction. Something is up, something is very wrong.

Boom, it echoes…

The psychics: empaths, and all those who are sensitive to the unnatural shiver under the tension.

Boom…

Oh god, make the bells stop!

Glass shatters on the floor, amber poison spills on the marble floor. The man has yet to notice, his teammates – who are heading off to bed (no one should be up at the ungodly hour!) – are startled with wide or cautious stares.

Boom…

Dad! …go…crazy bitch!

He doesn't hear his name being called or that someone is shaking his shoulder in attempt to get his attention.

Then the bell tolls its final mind numbing bell that shakes the very foundation of the underground world.

Time passes, a man melts out of the shadows; he crouches down examining the area. His cool, mercilessly blue hues hold underlining chills of determination and bottled rage. His calculating gaze searches, deducing every nook and cranny. In the end he stands, back rigidly straight and disappears just as quickly as he came. He has what he wanted.

Returning to the dazed man hours earlier, he snaps out of his stupor and flippantly dismisses the concerned (well it's really only two people that are concerned) or demanding questions. He waves them away and ignores the barrage of questions, claiming that he was struck "with an awesome idea, you just can't handle the genius that is me." He walks away to his lab and sits silently. His brow furrowed as he absentmindedly rubs his chest.

What the hell was that?

Miles, and miles away another man sighs knowing of the on coming workload that will no doubt lead to an anti-climatic ending. While another man similar in looks to the aforementioned man looks into an empty room, frowning he knows that someone out there will open the gates of hell.

"Well that was easy," a cackle escapes unnatural wide-set lips.
