I had decided to mix it up and change the genre for this one-shot. I'm so happy Scaehime was okay with this, cuz honestly my only other idea was someone falling down stairs. XD

On with the story!

Edward found it interesting. Often, the only obstacle between him and very important people in his life was a long staircase. It's time-consuming to walk or ride to locations, but if it is a good friend or acquaintance, it is expected for him to be tired when he sees them.

The first ones he thinks of off the bat are the steps leading up to Eastern Command and Central Command. It would only be logical to assume that all other Headquarters were on top of a freaking mountain too. It was such a chore sometimes, but he would do it if he could get closer to the Stone. He couldn't say that he liked what was at the top a whole lot, but it's needless to say that it's important; he got his job there, continues to have his job there, and needs to keep his job there until Alphonse is back to normal. Colonel Mustang is a bit of a pain, although his subordinates aren't all that bad. They all deserve at least a small amount of respect, and he can count on them to help him out if he ever asked for it, but that's as likely as Lieutenant Hawkeye missing her target.

Ed could also think of the stairs in the Rockbell home, which were the link between the first and second floors. It's only about 10 steps, which he appreciates, so less energy is spent to get from the patio to Winry's room. He knew that he would like this fact a little more if he wasn't also scared of her.

Now that's he's thinking of homes, he remembered that everyone has to go up some stairs to reach the Hughes. They are all very nice, so he is willing to go despite knowing that he will get bombarded with stories and insisting from Maes. After all, Gracia's cooking is just so amazing, and Elicia is adorable.

Ed continues to ponder this as he stares up at the very thing he's been thinking about. He grumbles as he hopes it won't take too long to get to the top of this staircase.

Alphonse found it interesting. Some of the greatest people ever were reachable by just climbing a staircase. He would have figured this out sooner if he could get tired by all of the exercise.

Beyond some of the obvious examples, he quickly found his mind wandering to times when his own brother was the person he was trying to reach. It often happened in hospitals, where they would put him in a higher floor, so visitors would have to work up the tedious spirals until they reached the room. He could take the elevator, but the one in the hospital wasn't exactly the newest, so he feared his great weight could break something.

Al looked over to his older brother, who was glaring at the staircase in front of them at the very moment. He didn't really understand why Edward was annoyed this time, since throughout the years he has gotten so used to this task he doesn't seem to get tired by it anymore. So many staircases must mean they know lots of great people.

Al wished he could smile at his next thought. Whether Edward heavily stomps up the stairs in anger or excitedly glides up the steps with such light feet he could fly- most likely, heavily stomps up the stairs in anger- he still climbs the staircase because he already knows what's at the top.

Woot-woot! I finally finished the 4 Scaehime ordered! (Of course, I immediately got a 5th -_-) I will begin on another prompt today, so I expect it to be up tomorrow.

K bai!
