Oh joy! My first piece on this site. This here is a little poem I wrote up for Creative Writing class focusing on the whole Sakaki vs. The Gray Cat thing. Reviews are nice, and flames are not.

I see you everyday,

little gray cat.

On my journey home from school

there you are

staring at me with you innocent black eyes.

I gaze in wonder at you

and you slowly wave your small tail;

back and forth like a metronome.

You flash your brilliant teeth

in a wide smile.

And I can't help but blush

You are so cute, little gray cat!

Slowly, I approach you.

I carefully kneel down

and place my briefcase on the ground.

I hesitate,

I have done this many times in the past

and you have never been gentle.

Slowly, I extend my hand out but,

I stop halfway.

I am so nervous, little cat

I want to touch you but,

you have been so cruel to me

in the past.

Maybe this time

we can be friends.

I move my hand again

and it rests just above

your large, gray head.

This time, I think to myself,

I'll be able to pet you.

Instead, however, you sink your large fangs

into my hand.

I cringe;

you have deceived my yet again,

little gray cat.

Your eyes told me

that they were looking for friendship,

but your mouth said something different.

Why do you bite me,

little gray cat?

I bring you no harm,

yet you are so cruel to me.

Eventually, you release your hold on me

and run off.

I watch as you fade

in the distance,

and you leave me with nothing but

a bleeding hand.

Oh little gray cat,

why won't you let me touch you

even if it's only for a second?

I sigh and pick up my briefcase.

My walk home continues

just as it was before.

Only now, I will have

a new scar to remind me of you.

Little gray cat,

Someday, my hand won't bleed,

but instead, it will feel the warmth of your

soft fur.

That day is very far off,

but I will dream.

And you will continue your daily activities.

Until we meet again tomorrow.
