She walked down the halls, alone and friendless. Her long blonde hair fell down to her shoulders, and her blue eyes darted around. She was small, frail, and thin. She was Luna Lovegood, a first year.

She was lost both inside and out.

No one understood her. Day by day, she did something unusual, making her a social outcast. But people only watched her make mistakes again and again without correcting her. Luna didn't know why she was rejected. She only knew that she had no friends, no companions.

She was lost both inside and out.

She wanted to go home, and get away from Hogwarts. Just get away from it all. But at home there was nobody except her father. Home had been so empty ever since that spell killed her mother. She missed her mother. She knew she didn't belong at home, she belonged at Hogwarts. But that was easy to forget, seeing as she didn't fit in. She had no where to go and cry alone. Everywhere she went there were more and more people laughing at her.

She was lost both inside and out.

She wanted to go back in time to when she was seven and happy with her family, friends and life in general. She hid her feelings from everyone; no one understood how she felt.

She was lost both inside and out.

Everyone wanted her to be normal, like them. But no one could break down her soul. She was loosing her gracefulness; she was becoming clumsy, and unwanted. She couldn't understand what was happening to her. Her mother would have told her to "be strong." She tried to live by these words, but she was no Gryffindor. Almost every day she could be found seeking a private place to dry her eyes.

She was lost both inside and out.

They stole her things and hid them until the last day of school, when she went around posting notices asking people to return them. It annoyed her greatly. Why couldn't they treat her kindly?

She was lost both inside and out.

She was fascinating. She had knowledge of so many things, animals, and places. But people didn't see that. They only saw a girl that was different, abnormal, and unusual. A girl they could tease and make fun of.

But then one day a boy with pea green eyes stepped into her compartment and she found her way.
