Mirror
An: I don't remember if there was a mirror in the building, but a picture I saw inspired this short fic. Thank You
Dr. Octavius walked around what would soon be his hide out. He had just escaped the hospital and figured that he should survey his surroundings. He was just about to turn a corner when he saw it. A mirror, what was the odd thing though was that it seemed to be the only thing new in the decaying building. There was not a single crack nor speck of dirt on it. Otto had to go over and look at it, to see if it was truly real or not.
He saw him self for the first time after the accident. He was pale and his skin was covered by a fine sheen of sweat. Otto still wore the hospital gown that was now covered by some of the dirt that he had picked up from the streets in his wonderings. His eyes seemed to lose a bit of life to them. Dr. Octavius then saw them, the tentacles. One came over the top, the upper left if he was correct. It nuzzled his cheek like some type of pet.
He was in a daze then as he pushed the tentacle away and continued to look over at himself. In short Dr. Octavius was looking at totally different person. He stared at that mirror for what seemed like years trying desperately to find the man that he once was. Otto couldn't find him no matter how much he started no matted how much he looked he was gone and nothing more then a shell remained.
Tears began to fall from Otto's eyes then. Nothing seemed to remain of his past life, his wife, his work, everything was just gone. Dr. Octavius no longer knew the person in the mirror. A thought came to Otto then what was he going to do with the rest of his life? How could he function in a normal world with four mechanical tentacles attached to his back?
The four tentacles came up behind him nuzzled him, spoke to him, tried to offer him comfort as best they could. Otto tried to block them out as he watched the tentacles in the mirror. They were simple creatures and all they knew was that their master was in pain. It was not a pain as the tentacles's A. I. knew of but they still some how knew that it was a pain of some type. The tentacles only wanted to bring their master happiness. As Otto looked at him self as well as his tentacles in the mirror he felt as if he was a prisoner to his tentacles, what he didn't know was that they were in fact a prisoner to some one else. A darker part of Dr. Octavius that lived inside of him. So as Otto sat there listening to his tentacles, the tentacles had to listen to the darker part as he told them what to tell their master.
"NO! I wouldn't listen!" Dr Octavius cried out as he smashed the mirror with one of his upper tentacles. No longer could he look at the shell that was once him self. Nor could he listen to the things that were attached to his back. Otto walked away then leaving the pieces of the scattered mirror on the floor.
Deep with in Dr. Octavius the darker part bided his time. "You have won the battle Otto but I will win the war." A gloved hand pushed up a pair of sunglasses. He had been around for longer then Otto knew, that was if he even knew. The dark part could tell that Otto's mind was now the weakest it had ever been. What were a few more hours when the darker part had almost waited a lifetime? The darker part then 'walked' back into Otto's mind, waiting for the right time to take over and to show the world a genius mind like his could really 'improve' the world. Perhaps even he could do what Otto could not. The darker part would be the one to have the sun in the palm of his hand not that weak fool. He thought about this for a moment more before deciding. A curl twisted smirk appeared on his face then for the idea pleased the darker part greatly.
