A/N: Okay, a new story here for you. Sorry, but I couldn't help myself!

With the faint sound of a horn in the distance, Rory readjusted her skirt with a quick glance in the miror, grabbed her bag, and ran down the main staircase of the Hayden Mansion.

Tristan was leaning against his car, smirking per usual. "Your skirt seems a little shorter today Mary, not that I'm complaining," he said, grabbing her bag from her and throwing it in the back, as he did each morning.

Rory sighed, but didn't complain. She'd never liked the nickname. TRistan had dubbed her Mary all the way back in preschool, in the sandbox as a matter of fact.

His answer to her confusion by the nickname was that all she did was read and never talked much, and was innocent, like the Virgin Mary.

How a boy so young could comprehend all this information of innocence and Virgin Mary was a mystery to her, she'd always figured that it had to do with him having four older brothers.

And even after she'd lost her virginity at the end of sophmore year to one of thes older brothers (2 years her senior), the nickname had somehow still stuck.

She'd learned to accept it as a petname of sorts.

She hopped in the car, and 15 minutes later Tristan parked the car in front of Chilton. "Thanks for the ride," she said as she did every morning.

"No problem, what are best friends for?"

And that was what they were. Best friends. Of course, it may have seemed odd to a stranger, such and attractive boy and beautiful girl being only friends, but it wasn't to them or anyone that had known them growing up.

They parted ways, going to their seperate lockers, Tristan promising to meet up with her in a minute.

As Rory approached hers, she sighed in frustration. The locker assignments just had to be in alphabetical order. That stuck her right between Paris Gellar and Louise Grant.

She ignored them as she spun her combination. She never talked to the girls at school much. She mostly stuck with Tristan, and his pack of male buddies. She always stood clear when one of his "flavors of the week" was around also.

Tristan came up just as Lousie leaned over Rory to talk to Paris. "Did you hear about John and Thereasa?" she asked.

"Yeah. They were caught in the janitor's closet yesterday, 'just friends' my ass," Paris responded.

"How can they do that?" Tristan asked, butting into their conversation. Not that they minded.

"What do you mean?" Louise asked slyly.

"They're supposed to be friends. How can you just go from being friends, to having a retlationship?"

Rory frowned, then turned to face them. "It happened on Dawson's Creek," she stated.

"Huh?"

"Dawson and Joey, on Dawson's Creek. They were best friends," she explained.

Tristan just looked at her with a blank expression, and she laughed. "You can't honestly tell me you've never seen Dawson's Creek before?"

"No.. why."

"Alright, that's it. I have the DVDs, and we are having a movie night tonight Mr."

"But I have a da-"

"No buts, this is an emergency!" Rory interrupted.

Tristan sighed in defeat. There was no way he was winning this fight. Teenage angst drama, here I come.

A/N: So, there it is. It was basically like a "giving the backround info, setting up the story" type of chapter, but I hope you liked it anyway. Let me know what you think!
