Summary: AU/Dr. Miriam Khan thought she was just up in the lonesome mountains of Washington to investigate an impossibility in the space-time plane. Yet, she finds herself tumbling down a rabbit hole, only ending up in the Fictional Universe of Star Wars. She has the ability to change the course of history, or she thought, as things in this Clone Wars don't seem to be the same.
Flathead National Forest, Washington, United States
Mamma… just killed a man…
Put a gun against my head
Pulled my trigger, now he's dead
Mamma, life had just begun-
Miriam paced back and forth in front of her trailer, her glasses hanging from the bridge of her nose. She threw her dimly-lit cigarette on the ground, forcefully stomping on the soft earth beneath her boot. She stopped once again in front of her laptop, anxious watching her readings. There was nothing natural about what was happening here.
Of course… anything about her defied what people considered 'natural' in the first place, but this was a stretch, even for her. Her loyal wolfdog watched her pace impatiently, howling in a low voice.
"I thought you liked camping Luke." She mumbled to her dog, only to watch him blankly look up at her with his warm golden eyes. "No, I'm don't think I'm going crazy just yet. It's too soon even for me."
Didn't mean to make you cry
If I'm not back again this time tomorrow
Carry on, carry on, as if nothing really matters…
She hit the mute button on her phone, stopping the much fitting music playing in the background. She stopped typing, listening to the eerie silence of nature. Nothing but crickets in the distance, a faint hoot of an owl and the light whoosh of a river could be heard. She had completely dropped off from the face of the Earth for nearly a week now, and nothing has happened yet. She was growing very, very impatient indeed.
Miriam usually knew how to kept her cool… was part of her job anyways, but she risked a good life she recently had going for this witch hunt. Pursing her plump lips, she looked at her trusted companion, reaching down to scratch the top of his soft head.
"You're such a good boy." She purred, watching the dog smile brightly as she scratched behind his ear. "You're only good because you can't express your opinion… and you're not human." People in her workplace must have had the national guard looking for her by now, but she vowed not to return until she had tangible, empirical proof of her theory. Einstein's theory of relativity said that an object of a certain magnitude can warp the space and time around it, but there wasn't anything here… not anything she could see at least. According to her readings… the warp that was being created seemed to be created by a mass almost as large as the moon – which was impossible and it only seemed to grow bigger in size.
Taking off her glasses, she rubbed her burning tired eyes. She watched blankly as the relative space in this location began to sink, as if a bowling ball sinking a trampoline. If this were true, Earth would shatter and be scattered into space – but here she was, still alive with her precious planet Earth still intact. Perhaps her equation was really off. Miriam shook her head in disbelief. She was known for many things but doubting herself was never one of them.
"Do you think I'm wrong?" She asked Luke, enticing a small whimper in response. He sat up straight, licking his lips and crawling closer to her. "You just ate, you fat goof."
She looked at her phone yet again, but stared down at nothing but the black screen. She had taken off her sim card and turned her phone off before departing, making sure all loopholes of her being tracked was eliminated. What was she doing? For the first time in a long time, the simple people of NASA actually wanted to help her, not kill her. She left that life behind with no regrets.
She reached for her pocket and looked down at the pack of cigarettes, crunching her nose. She was trying to quit, she really was, but these past few days in isolation and anxiety was driving her disgusting habits up all the way again. Resisting herself, she shoved the pack back in her shorts pocket and placed a nicotine patch on her arm. That stupid shit did nothing - purely psychosomatic. Perhaps it was time for her to pack her things and go back to reality. It wouldn't be convenient if everyone thought she was dead, again.
"It's one in the morning, anyways." Miriam said out loud, huddling her jacket close to her body. "Perhaps it's time to call a night, because, I am starting to think this whole trip may have been absolutely fucking useless." She smiled bitterly at her dog. Luke groaned, making Miriam shake her head and shut her computer screen, tucking it under her arm.
"Come on boy, time to slip into the nightmares." She whistled, waiting by the doorway of her trailer and letting her 120 pound wolfdog run inside, swiftly jumping in the bed and taking his sleeping spot. Before, she believed that a life mundane was no life at all, but she was beginning to change her life aspects. This was too mundane, and her outlandish theory was most certainly proving to be wrong.
Miriam was a believer of science in all means, but all her life she had experiences that were impossibilities in the realm of modern science. Because of who she was, she chose to become a scientist, but the answers were far from discovered. This seemed promising, like there was something more out there, like her – an anomaly in the realities of physics. Yet, she did not need her knowledge of physics to know that something was wrong. She had her senses… that overbearingly accurate, sixth, or seventh, or perhaps eighth sense that she had. She knew from the moment that she first discovered the shift in the space-time continuum that something was wrong… and she had a bad feeling about this.
She took off her shorts and her shirt, grabbing an extra-large shirt near her and putting it on. Her fatigue eyes wanted to stay awake, but as soon as she crashed on her bed, she drifted off into nothingness.
Too Late, my time has come…
Sends shivers down my spine
Body's aching all the time
Miriam's eyes flew open, immediately reaching her hand out and summoning her Glock. She watched the weapon fly into her palms as she gripped it tightly. She pressed and released the chamber, making sure the ammo was fully loaded. Something was happening, she could feel it. Miriam carefully crawled out of her bed, signaling Luke to remain perfectly quiet. Her barefoot shivered against the cold metal floor of her trailer.
Goodbye everybody, I've got to go…
Gotta leave you all behind and face the truth-
She pointed her gun up, slowly moving towards the front door, watching it shake lightly. In fact, the whole trailer began shaking. It was no ordinary earthquake, and she knew it. She stood with her back against the wall, reaching for her right hand to slowly grab on to the handle.
"On my mark, you attack." Miriam whispered. Miriam slowly twisted the knob of door, her other finger ready on the trigger. She watched as Luke slowly growled, placing his front paws forward in attack position. For a moment, she hesitated, and just then her whole trailer shook violently, making Luke bark. Miriam jolted off and banged her head against the wall, quickly removed her finger from the trigger.
Groaning in pain, she rolled over and aimed at the door, using her feet to open it, only to be greeted by the bright orange light.
I see a silhouette of a little man
Scaramouch, Scaramouch you will do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning very very frightening me
Galileo, Galileo… Galileo, Galileo… Galileo Figaro maginifico
The song blasted in full volume as Luke barked louder, spit flying from his fangs as he exposed his front set of teeth viciously. Miriam's hand remained steady, even as the trailer only shook more violently. Using the foot of the table, she pushed herself upright with her gun still pointed towards the door. She moved forward slowly, peaking closer to the door.
What she saw next was yet the most bizarre impossibility. Everything around her, and she meant everything, was stretched out like an elastic band, being pulled into this bright ball of orange energy floating in the sky. Miriam watched, her mouth hanging open in disbelief. It was not happening… it cannot be happening… it was impossible to happen.
This pull of energy was actually stretching out space… and they were being pulled into it. Wait, they were being pulled into it. Miriam shook her head and jolted back into reality, shutting the door close and clicking her safety. She scurried and holstered her weapon on the waistband of her underwear, opening her computer.
"The fuck is happening?!" She shouted, looking down at her scrambled laptop screen. "Steady boy!" She warned Luke as he began to run towards the front door. Miriam reached her hand out and pulled him using her telekinetic abilities, slowly pulling him closer to her.
"Looks like we are going for a ride-" Miriam screamed, squeezing her eyes shut. She placed her hand over Luke's head, hugging the big dog close to her and using one of her multiple senses to calm him down. "They didn't mention this in the Holy Book-" she whispered as the trailer jolted forward, sinking into nothingness.
Long Ago, In A Galaxy Far, Far Away…
Second Battle of Geonosis
Obi-Wan rested his back against the battle debris, breathing heavily. He had sustained a minor concussion, and possibly a broken limb, but the battle still rages on. This was perhaps a little too close, but thankfully a squadron of bombers came in just in time to clear the ambush to rescue them. Yet, Obi-Wan wasn't at ease. He absently stared down at the ginger dirt of the dust-bowl planet of Geonosis, all sounds of blasters and explosions fading around him. This sudden ball of Force began vibrating though him… and it seemed like nothing good. It was unlike any surge in the Force he had ever felt.
"What happened to you?" Anakin asked, pulling the absent Obi-Wan out of his thought. He looked up, rubbing dust off his eyes and looking up to focus on his looming former Padawan. Obi-Wan crooked his eyes and groaned, placing his palm flat on the ground to position himself upright. His leg throbbed in pain, yet he bit into his teeth and ignored it.
"I could ask you the same thing." Obi-Wan commented humorlessly. He paused, looking at Anakin intently.
"I feel it too-" Anakin whispered slowly. He crouched closer to his former Master, resting his knee on the ground. "Have you ever felt anything like this before?"
Obi-Wan shook his head, trying to focus on what was important. "I have never… however, we need to worry about our current, rather dire situation right now." He groaned, gulping as another jolt of pain shot through his leg.
"What, you don't think that magnitude in the Force is dire?" Anakin spat, looking around in disbelief.
"Anakin! You'll need to take a small squad through the shield, as close as you can get to their gun emplacements." Obi-Wan breathed out, grabbing onto Anakin's shoulder. "From there, you'll be able to temporarily jam their scanners so they are unable to target the incoming tanks. Once the tanks knock out the shield, Master Mundi can bring the rest of the troops in with the gunships."
"But Master-" Anakin began when Obi-Wan squeezed his arms, pursing his lips into a thin line.
"Anakin, we must worry about that later, but first we need to save ourselves." Obi-Wan replied, panting.
Anakin knit his eyebrows, blinking his eyes thoughtfully. "Consider it done, Master." He replied softly, however Obi-Wan knew his mind is going to wander at the unusualness of the Force. Obi-Wan's mind was wandering there too, no doubt so was Master Mundi's and possibly every Force-Sensitive being in the Galaxy.
Obi-Wan watched as Anakin and his young padawan rushed into action, following as Obi-Wan had instructed. He grabbed his lightsaber and ignited it, watching the brilliant blue light of the blade softly glow. Obi-Wan used his right hand to deflect blaster rays as Anakin broke through the shields, letting Mundi's troop come and overtake their rendezvous point.
"Looks like it's working!" Anakin shouted through the intercom, making Obi-Wan wince at the sharp frequency.
"It won't for long." Obi-Wan replied.
"Wait-" Anakin began from the other side as they all stared up at the dusty orange sky of Geonosis. Obi-Wan absently turned his lightsaber off, watching a small ball of electrical energy form in the distance, almost like a black hole. He tilted his head, limping closer to the object. The whole clatter and chaos of the battle stood still as both sides stared in awe and confusion. He felt it again, that unnaturally powerful tug in the Force. Obi-Wan inhaled sharply as he watched an object fall through the hole, crashing on the ground upright.
"What the?" One of the troopers slipped, staring around in confusion. "Did I get knocked too hard or did that vehicle just drop from that-"
"Vortex-" Another trooper finished.
"Obi-Wan?" Anakin croaked from his comm-unit, confusion lingering in his voice. "Kiadi?"
"Yes, young Skywalker-" Master Mundi replied. "This seems rather, impossible indeed."
"Feels impossible." Ashoka snarked. "Master Skyguy, what the hell is this?" Obi-Wan looked back at Cody, signaling him to come forth.
"Cody, clear this place up, and round up a small squad." Obi-Wan ordered. "We need to investigate what's in that-"
"Who is in that." Anakin corrected. "I'm not the only one who can feel the presence of whoever is in there, am I?" Obi-Wan called a trooper to aide him to walk as she scratched his beard thoughtfully.
"We must be cautious." Obi-Wan replied grimly. "That surge of Force is unlike anything any of us have ever felt." The four Jedi and their small squad leerily walked towards the vehicle, which from closer examine seemed heavily armored. The vehicle seemed like it was intact and in good shape despite falling quite a distance from… well whatever that was. The windows were mildly cracked, yet rather unharmed, indicating that the windows too were blaster-proof. It wasn't a vehicle he has ever seen before, but it seemed military-grade.
"I feel only we should proceed." Master Mundi suggested, looking at the other Jedi for accordance. Anakin nodded, gesturing Rex to stay behind and surround the vehicle.
"Ashoka, stay here." Anakin said, unclipping his lightsaber from his belt and gripping it tightly on his leather palm. The young Torguta looked at him in disbelief, her arms crossed defiantly.
"What do you mean, stay here?" Ashoka whined, her azure eyes swimming with questions. "I'm coming in-"
"Ashoka, we don't know what's in there." Anakin stopped her, placing his hand in the air. "And it can be very dangerous, so I'm not going to say this again Padawan. Stay here."
"But-" Ashoka continued, but the stern look in Anakin's face stopped her. The padawan's shoulder slugged in disappointment as she nodded hesitantly, taking a step back. "Fine."
"Balance… yet troubled." Mundi spoke thoughtfully, his eyes fixed on the object. "That's what I sense."
"Cold…" Anakin replied absently. "It's balanced, but, distant… somehow." Obi-Wan nodded, agreeing with them both. He did sense a purity of Balance unlike ever. It was like the perfect harmony of both Light and Dark, however… the person who was inside seemed to be emitting tense and anxious energy, with some deep-rooted sorrow. He personally never felt anyone's emotions their scattered and unrelated before.
Obi-Wan opened his mouth to speak when a foreign music blasted from inside the vehicle, making the Jedi ignite their lightsabers in response. They looked at each other in confusion, backing away from the door.
"I sense two presence." Obi-Wan added. "One animal-"
"I don't think they are conscious." Anakin said, jumping on the step and opening the door. Obi-Wan raised his hand to protest but Anakin already opened the door, climbing. "Force's fuck." He murmured under his breath, staring inside.
"Anakin?" Obi-Wan asked, trying to peer behind him. "What do you see in there?" Anakin remained silent, but he used his lightsaber to shine some light in the dark interior of the vehicle.
"I think we need a medic in here."
Obi-Wan, Mundi, Anakin and Unduli all stood around a circle, staring intently at the clinical bed. The girl that they found inside the vehicle was rendered unconscious, however, the wolf-like dog with her remained perfectly unharmed. The dog, which seemed like the unknown girls pet, sat at the foot of the bed, his ears pointed upright. The dog was protecting her, and would snarl at anyone who came close to her. The disturbed and confused Jedi had to stand away in a distance to observe the girl… the girl who pure with the Force that is was rather difficult being around her.
None spoke, and the heavy silence was making Obi-Wan far more weary than the situation was. He coughed, trying to cut through the heavy tension in the room. "We should wait until she regains consciousness." Obi-Wan finally spoke, making everyone's attention turn towards him. "It's not like we will know anything more."
"Not with that Lothal-Wolf guarding her." Ashoka pointed at the dog, who was staring innocently around.
"That isn't a Lothal wolf. It's smaller… and honestly cuter, like what is this thing?" Anakin chuckled. "I'm sorry this whole situation is making me very uncomfortable. She is making me uncomfortable."
"You are not alone Anakin." Luminaria commented, her arms wrapped behind her back. "This girl, whoever she is… has the highest midi-chlorian count we have ever seen."
The unconscious girl purred softly as her eyes constantly fluttered. She was restless, yet there was something very controlled about her. They have been observing the girl for hours, none saying a word. She was human, a young woman possible in her early to mid-twenties. Her long hair cascaded from dark roots to light blonde highlights, flowing placidly around her. Her skin was the warm shade of brown, blemish less and silk like. Her featured were sharp, with his cheekbones, a defined nose and the most full and pouted lips. The sleeping girl was breathtakingly beautiful, even he must admit. However he has learned through the years that beauty can be deceiving. "Even higher than yours, Anakin." Obi-Wan added. "I honestly don't know what to make of this."
The dog whimpered and turned to his Master when she shuffled in her bed. The Jedi's exchanged an uncertain glance, knowing that their Force's impossibility was awakening. The girl shot her eyes open, revealing the unusually entrancing mismatching pair of eyes. Her right orb was a rich milk-brown, with speckles of gold glittered throughout while her left iris was a vibrant green, dark strands of brown running lines. She stared blankly at the ceiling as the dog crouched closer to her, placing his snout over her face and licking intently.
"Luke what did I tell you about licking me in the morning?" The girl croaked, wrapping her arms absently around the furry dog. "Wait, this ain't my traile-" she paused, shooting up and patting around her bed.
"Excuse me." Master Unduli approached, finally grabbing the girls attention. The girl looked up, her stern expression slowly morphing into horror. Without blinking, she continued to stare at Luminaria, patting around her bed absently.
"First." She asked, her voice still scratchy. "Where Is my gun. Second… where am I?" She paused, looking down at the tubes attached to her arm and yanking them off. The girl shows no sign of pain, but slowly rubbed her punctured skin. "Third… why the makeup?"
"I'm sorry? What's a gun?" Luminaria asked, fluttering her eyelashes. "And I'm not in disguise."
"I'm not going to ask you again, Star Wars geek. Where. Is. My. Gun?" The girl gritted through her teeth, making all the Jedi reach for their lightsabers, ready for her to strike. He could feel her anger rise, and Obi-Wan got the sense that it would be for the benefit of everyone not to anger her. They didn't know who she was yet, or what she was capable of. The fact that she could be Sith hadn't been ruled out yet either.
"Miss… you sustained some injury, I suggest you relax and we shall explain everything to you." Obi-Wan proceeded cautiously, turning the girls attention away from Unduli. As soon as her entrancing eyes lay upon him, her expression completely changed. Her stern face took a soft, atoning expression as her full lips slightly parted. She stared at him in shock, her breathing completely hitched. At this point, he didn't know what she was feeling, or why she was so taking aback by seeing him.
"What?" She whispered lightly, her shoulders relaxing. "You look exactly like him." she commented, crouching closer to Obi-Wan. "It's almost believable."
"Look like who?" He asked.
"Look like who? Fuck-tard." She whispered under her breath, her tone vexed. "Obi-Wan fucking Kenobi, you twat." Obi-Wan looked at Anakin, alarmed.
"How do you know my name?" Obi-Wan asked, gripping his lightsaber in his hand. "And who are you?"
"Listen, just because you are one of my childhood crushes lookalike, doesn't mean I won't crush your skull with my bare hands." The girl moved the swing her legs off the edge of the bed when Anakin ignited his lightsaber, pointing it at her.
"Don't move." He warned. The girl watched the lightsaber intently, almost reaching out to touch the tip. She stopped, possibly removing her finger as the heat off the lightsaber grazed her skin.
"I didn't drop acid recently did I?" She spoke to herself, absently scratching the top of her pets head. "Because that looks like what a real lightsaber would look like-" she stopped, narrowing her eyes to focus her face on Anakin's feature. "And where the fuck did all these doppelgängers come from."
"We need you to calm down." Mundi approached her cautiously. The girl turned, her eyes fixating on Master Mundi's forehead.
"Oh they don't sell that in Party City." She mumbled, touching the ridges of Mundi's forehead. Her lips turned in disgust as she moved her hand away, wiping her fingers. "That feels so real, what the hell is this?"
"That is, my forehead, dear." Mundi stuttered, somewhat embarrassed by the girls intrusion. "Are you not used to seeing other humanoids where you come from?"
The girl stared at Master Mundi blankly, cracking a bright smile. "What, you're trying to tell me you're Jedi Master Kiadi Mundi? Oh the Jedi high Council?" She turned her face to Luminara, pointed at her "And Luminara Unduli… Ashoka fucking Tano-" she paused, tilting her head to get a better look at the disheavled padawan.
"How do you know our names?" Ashoka demanded, placing one hand on her hip and coming forward. "Who sent you, spy?"
The girl narrowed her eyes, watching Ashoka's movement. Master Unduli reached out and stopped Ashoka, moving her away from the unknown girl. "The young padawan means to ask if you're a Separatist."
The girl tucked her knees, watching everyone carefully. "This may be the first time in fifteen years that I'm somewhat freaking out." She said, her dark brows furrowed deeply. "You're telling me- this is real?"
"This one is kind of mental." Anakin whispered to Obi-Wan, making the girls gaze shoot at them.
"Oi, watch it." She warned, however frozen still. "I don't know why someone would want to pull such an elaborate prank on me. I mean if they truly knew me they know what happens when I get pissed."
"No one is playing a prank on you." Obi-Wan suggested, "Not that we are aware of. But you need to tell us how you know our names." The girl straightened her back, her eyes shifting from Obi-Wan top to toe. She flashed a small smile, while a deep dimple appeared on her right cheek.
"I'm going mad." She smiled, making Anakin's frown deepen. "Oh my god I am absolutely losing it! I am currently having a lucid hallucination that the wonderful fictitious universal of George Lucas is real…"
"We aren't a figment of your imagination." Anakin added firmly, placing his mechanical hand firmly on her shoulder. The girl paused, watching Anakin in horror. "We are real."
The smile from the girls face disappeared. "This is impossible-" she breathed out… shaking her head in utter disbelief "Just impossible."
Please read my story and see how you like it. This is very much an Alternate Universe story... so yeah.
I will warn you that there is harsh language, so please once again read at your own discretion. My dialogue will almost sound like Quintin Tarantino level crude. Also, I will try to portray scenes of violence and sex as much in detail as possible. In future chapters it will almost seem like a Marvel/Star Wars crossover, but it's not (I just borrowed ideas from Marvel, and here and there...)
Please read and review your first thoughts on this story 3 I'm very flaky when it comes to updates, but I will try to get this up as soon as possible.
MUAH (that's me giving a virtual kiss)
