Author's Notes: Fifth instalment in the 'Cold' series. My friend said I should make it that in the end they find out they're all Popsicles in the freezer and I was all, 'no! These stories are supposed to be romantic and angsty with a hint of humour!' So he said 'what about chicken nuggets? They're romantic.' I don't think I'll let him drink coffee anymore. Oh, and remember, these are more drabbles than stories, so they're short. Also, the stopping place was a good one. But even one review and I'll post more. Promise.
"Hello, girl."
Ginevra whirled around so fast that her red braid slapped her in the face.
The silver-eyed man chuckled. "So graceful." He sneered, wand at the ready.
Ginevra anchored her fingers in Charlie's fur. "Lucius Malfoy." She said evenly. "What a pleasant surprise." It actually was. She'd always thought the cold, calm man was too prim and proper to want to get blood under his fingernails. Looks like she'd been wrong.
"Really?" Lucius twirled his wand idly. "And why would that be?"
"I never got to thank you for that charming prank you pulled on me when I was eleven. Putting Tom's diary in my cauldron that is. I'm sure you were quite the belle of the ball at all those cold, posturing society functions idiots like you inevitably attend."
Lucius's eyes flashed, then he chuckled. "I'll be much more popular when I take out the Potter brat's pathetic ex. Oh, I'm sorry, that must be such a sore subject for you…the fact that even a mudblood like Potter didn't want you."
Ginevra glared, normally warm cinnamon eyes icy. "What would you know?" She snapped. "Tom's a halfblood."
"But he managed to rise above his station…pity you didn't follow his example my dear."
"Just get on with the cursing already." Ginevra affected a yawn. "This is boring."
"Very well. Crucio."
Ginevra leapt to one side, but the curse caught her shoulder, and she fell to the ground, screaming. Her head banged hard against the stone. Just before she lost consciousness she saw Charlie barrelling towards Lucius, teeth bared and…green eyes glowing with anger.
Reviewer Response:Forever Cold
Searching4romeo: No! I didn't want to make you cry! Thank you, though, it's very flattering to know I can move you to tears. Here's the next instalment. I think there's probably only one left after this.
Chop Suey: Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
Emma Watson Rules: Yeah, it is, but it gets better…eventually…
You're ColdSearching4Romeo: It was finished, but I decided to add more and make a nice little series out of it. My first real series! Whoo, go me!
Raiining: Does it really? Oops. Ah well, it's the third one in the series anyway.
It's Always ColdSearching4romeo: No, I don't think it would be spontaneous. It would be combusting with prior warning. He's scared. Wouldn't you be? And she doesn't know because he's put a bunch of charms on himself so she won't know. Otherwise, what would be the point? But all that is explained with more detail in instalment six.
Raiining: Yes, I love Luna. She's just so cool.
Takeshiyo: Actually, no, it's not D/Her, but it is G/H. It's G/H with hints of R/Her and B/D. Yes, in the second instalment Harry was thinking.
