The Promise

She was staring at the dark red roses in her hand.

It was raining and Sara was thankful for the rain, so nobody would see her tears.

Lindsay stood next to her, she was also crying and she also held roses in her hand.

Pale pink roses.

Sara dropped her roses to the coffin after Lindsay's hit the wood.

A whisper escaped from her lips,

"I'll love you forever."

Lindsay looked at the coffin once more, and then turned to Sara.

"Sara?" her voice was low but Sara heard it and took the girl into her arms.

"I miss her so much." Lindsay whispered into her ear.

"Me too, honey. Me too."

They stood there for a long time, as Lindsay spoke again.

"Sara? Give me a promise?"

Sara lightly pushed her away to look into her eyes.

"Sure."

"Promise you'll never leave me."

New tears built in her eyes as Sara hugged the girl again.

"I'll never leave you, honey. I promise"

She promised.

The same promise Catherine had given her...
...two weeks ago.
