He wasn't the boy she used to love anymore.

He spent his days pacing, looking wearier and wearier as time went on. He never sat still. His face was joyless and his heart was unfulfilled.

She wasn't the girl she used to be anymore.

Her life had been sacrificed for the happiness of a boy who could never truly be happy to begin with. She hovered around him, trying to distract him, to keep him from feeling the pain. She'd stopped playfully toying with him long ago; she feared that a simple quip would be enough to break him for good.

Neither of them paid too much attention during class anymore, too busy focusing their eyes on the same empty seat by the window.

She wondered when he would finally just let go. Bitterly, she asked of herself when she would do the same.

She closed her eyes and felt like she was fading.
