With the summer holidays over, the school year was in full bloom for Hogwarts students as their days were spent bustling about the castle to get to their classes on time. The nervous first years were slowly moving their way about the enormous school, a look of confusion covering most of their faces as they sought the right way to get to class without being bombarded by things like disappearing doors, talking portraits leading them into a trap, or stair cases moving while they were still on them, while the seventh years strutted throughout the halls with ease, these occurrences being completely normal to them.
Between all the chaos that is bound to follow the first few days of school, a sixth year nearly ran over his fellow students in his rush to get outside and in the fresh air. Sirius Black found himself dodging first years as he ran through the corridors as fast as his feet could take him, the only thought going through his mind was 'Shit, I'm late!'
He was in the middle of a shower that he had to take due to quidditch practice when he realized the time and had to run through the common room while trying to get a shirt over his head. Although he was pretty sure most of the other Gryffindors enjoyed the show, he still got hit in the head with a shoe by none other than the fiery redhead, Lily Evans herself.
When he had finally cleared the giant doors of the castle, he went about with the task of finding the one who he had to go through all the trouble of hurrying for. His grey eyes searching the landscape until they landed on a head of sandy brown hair sitting on the edge of the black lake. Instantly, he ran over to meet him but slowed his footsteps before he came within earshot and instead took up a quieter approach.
When he was right behind him, and the scent of chocolate found its way to his nose, he pounced and covered the boys eyes with his hands, "Guess who?" He asked Remus teasingly, "Are you serious?" He said back, taking another bite of chocolate as Sirius wrapped his arms around his neck, "Correct!" He laughed, placing a quick kiss on his boyfriend's cheek.
He settled down beside him, his arms still tight around him, as they looked at the waving water together. It was peaceful, and Sirius was pretty sure he saw the giant squid a couple times, when he spoke again, "Sorry for being late, do you want to go on with our date, or get right to the good stuff?"
"Sirius!"
And so he once again found himself running at top speed though the castle, but this time it was to escape his boyfriend, who was less than pleased to be surprised by his words enough to accidentally drop his chocolate into the lake.
