"Daniel! How many times have I told you not to go out of the palace without permission! Do you know how worried we all were?" The queen chastised.
"What would you care? You have so many other, more important things to worry about." Daniel retorted.
"Nothing, do you hear me? Nothing is more important to me than the well-being of my son!" The queen sighed as she sat back on her throne. Running her hands through her hair, she said, "Daniel Howell, you are the most precious thing in my life. You're worth more to me than all the riches in the world, is that clear? I can't have you running off on your own without supervision. You're a prince and you need to act like it. With great power comes great responsibility, and you need to accept that."
"Yes, your majesty," Dan mumbled.
"Come now, I'll have none of this 'your majesty' nonsense. I'm your mother first and foremost. Come here." The queen stood up, pulling the prince into a big hug, ruffling his hair.
"Now look here. I won't tell your father about this if you promise it'll never happen again. Deal?"
"Yes mother!" Daniel smiled. He knew his father would be extremely upset about his shenanigans and appreciated his mother's offer.
"Alright, off you go. Freshen up and be down for dinner at promptly 6 o'clock." The queen sighed as she watched him go. What am I going to do with this boy? she wondered.
Dan shut the doors behind him and flopped down on his bed. I could do it, I could just stay in here all the time and not leave. It wouldn't be that bad would it? Dan wondered. He wasn't sure why he liked leaving the palace. It wasn't the thrill and he definitely didn't like the guilt he felt when he thought of his mother's disapproval. He absolutely despised dealing with the commoners. Why do I do it though? Mother has warned me before and yet I always end up finding myself wandering the streets. Dan pondered the thought for a few more minutes before getting up and getting ready for dinner.
