Pull and push

Premise. I wrote this trying to imagine what would happen to Tom and Anya if all things were going good. So I was thinking about a 3rd season in which Landry succeeded in testing the vaccine and the people that escaped the tragedy are now ready to rebuild a civilized society. Our beloved family is reunited, I don't know how, I don't matter what's happened on the plane and soon afterwards. I just focused my attention to Tom and Anya, to their relationship, their continuous pulling and pushing. This could be a scene of a 3rd season finale .

P.S. Sorry for my English. I'm not an English native

Anya was looking at him with her wide glittering eyes . The family accepted to join the new community, trying to give a new direction to their life…They were so happy, finally something positive after all the sufferings, the deaths, the pain they had come through . But not all of them. Tom was concerned. This new apparently well settled situation somehow upset him. The others were so excited trying to establish their position in the new scenario. But what was his role there? He didn't Know. They didn't need him anymore, he hadn't to protect them . "The weak need protecting" he said once, but then this was no more important, not there at least. Yes he knew, outside there was such a cruel world yet and he understood it'd suit much more his violent attitude.

He gazed at Anya. He loved her more than his own life and wanted to see her happy. Like that evening in Judy's place: she looked so beautiful. He was not sure he could give her that serenity, the stability she needed. He couldn't think about a future, he only could handle his life day by day and that wasn't enough. So he realized the only thing he could do for her was to leave.

Tom faced Anya: "When all this 's done I'm getting away". He was cold, extremely controlled, no emotion in his eyes.

A shadow passed through her eyes, darkening her face. Their relationship wasn't simple and she really couldn't understand what was wrong with him. "Tom, what are you saying?"

"I don't belong here. I'm coming back to what there's outside", he said resolutely.

"I want you to stay. I need you." She couldn't face the horror of his words

"No, you don't. Now, you can have back your life as it was before the virus. You don't wanna have me around here"

"Don't tell me what I want" she looked angry

"You know who I am. You know what I am. I won't change" he replayed echoing what she told him time ago

"But you already changed. You are a different man". She was so desperate, he could see that, but all this was for her own good.

"I'm different 'cause I love you." He couldn't stop these words. She came closer and kissed him tenderly. Their glances stood still for a moment that seemed just to be all the eternity

Tom started to talk again painfully, but steadily "But now you have to look forward and I can't be nothing more than what I used to be. Goodbye, Anya." He turned and walked away without hesitations, her eyes following him helpless.

Now I'm imaging a 4th season with our pairing again together but this time for ever….
