Summary Syaoran ponders over what the feathers mean to him.
He stared at the feather in his hand. Part of Sakura's memory. Another step along the way to restoring her to the person she once had been, but not really. At the end he would be missing. She would be herself again, but she would not remember him She would still be the one he loved, but she would not love him.
He must live for the present while she still smiled at him. She might not know him, but she wanted him to be safe. She wanted to see him smile. It was her smiles that he lived for.
Mostly she slept. She had demanded that he be there when she woke up, but he could not. He must travel the worlds seeking her memory returned a piece of her memory and made her more like the Sakura he remembered Each memory made it more certain that when she was restored he would be devastated.
She would be the Sakura he remembered. The Sakura he loved But she would not remember him. She would not love him. That was price he had paid to save Sakura. In order to save Sakura, he must lose her forever. He would be forever a stranger to her with no memory of their love for each other.
So he must treasure the memories of Sakura. The only thing that was important was that Sakura would be alive and happy. He must carry the last feather with him. Those memories he would store in his heart. There the memory of the love between Syaoran and Sakura would never be forgotten.
