Harm:(sotto voce) I'm not involved with Mac.
(Touch and Go)
Lieutenant Harriet Sims-Roberts sat at her desk in the Judge Advocate General's office observing the comings and goings of the bullpen before her. She prided herself on being observant of things around her. It wasn't often that she was able to sit and watch what was going on around her, but today she had an unusual amount of time on her hands.
A few people were scattered about doing various things, making copies, delivering files.
She looked into Bud's office; he sat talking on the phone and flipping through a book at the same time.
She looked into the Colonel's office expecting to see her with her head buried into a file and getting ready for a big case, but the Colonel wasn't working on anything. Instead her head was resting on her open palm with a dreamy look on her face. Who put that look on her face? And why is she just now learning about it?
She was about to get up to do an inquiry into her friend's love life when something else caught her eye.
Commander Rabb was walking to his office. Nothing was out of the ordinary, his uniform was spotless like always and he didn't look anything but wonderful, except for the pink shimmery lip gloss that was currently on the side of his mouth and across his bottom lip.
Hmm, dreamy look from the Colonel and lip gloss on the Commander? No! It couldn't be, could it? Had they finally figured it out? It's time to go investigate.
She gets up and casually makes her way into his office. He sits behind his desk and is typing away on his computer when she stands at attention in front of his desk.
"At ease Harriet, how can I help you?"
"I just wanted to tell you that the particular color of lip gloss isn't really you, sir."
"What are you talking about?" He looks at her with a shock expression.
"The shimmering pink, Commander." She struggles to hold in a smile as he wipes at his lips and face.
"I don't know what you are talking about." He says after he finishes.
"Permission to speak freely, sir?"
"Go ahead."
"The Colonel is in her office doing something very out of character. She came back about five minutes before you did and the whole time she has just sat there with a dreamy look on her face. And now here you are with lip gloss on your lips that just happens to be the same color the Colonel wears."
"A dreamy look huh? Uhh..I mean what are you getting at?" He says trying to cover up and back peddle.
"Have you two finally figured it out?" She asks with eagerness.
"Harriet, I'm not involved with Mac, ok? I'm sure you will be the first to know if something happens."
"May I make a suggestion?" She asks and continues after he nods, "The next time you want someone to believe that you aren't involved with Mac, try it on someone who doesn't know you the two of you so well. You aren't very good at lying Commander."
With a smile she walks out of his office leaving behind a confused and shocked Commander.
