My Mirror
I don't know how to tell you, Harry, what a good man your father was. I can tell you he was a loyal friend, companion, husband, and member of the Order, as well as a loving father. To know James was to love him. He and your grandparents did more for me than my own family, and I felt the loss of him and your mother more deeply than I care to feel anything again in my life.
I know that you have seen some things this year which have caused you to doubt your father's character. I am telling you now: don't. I may not be able to teach you much, Harry, but this I hope I can give you: a real idea of who your parents were, through the eyes of one who held them so dear in his heart; stories of the greatness they strove for, and perhaps a reason for their untimely death.
It is a shame you had to lose them, before you even got a chance to know them, and through no fault of your own. It was mine, Harry, and that will always be my life's deepest regret. So, I offer to you my memories of how things used to be. I ask you to take them with a grain of salt and to remember that no one is perfect. To me, it seems like only yesterday, but Azkaban was harder on me than you know, and my mind is not what it once was. That said, do not doubt one thing. Your father was the bravest man I have ever known, Harry, and he loved you. We all loved you. We do love you...
I know it's short but Read and Review please, and I'll keep it up!
