If there was one thing Briar Beauty knew better than anyone it was how to throw a page-ripping party that no fairyteen would forever after forget.
The pop filled cords of One Reflection's latest single blasted through the large speakers that adored the far corners of the makeshift dance-floor in the middle of Ever After High's large ballroom that shimmered more than the night's starry filled sky. Streamers and balloons of silver, red and purple hung from the high ceilings and cream colored walls, bright colorful lights flashed here and there swishing off in every and any direction. Here and there bright flashes from Mirriorphones and Mirriorpads went off as the students took phones to post on their MyChapter accounts.
From the large door Raven stood, silent as she watched her classmates dance wildly on the dance-floor; each of them smiling and happy. It was almost as if they had forgotten about what had happened last month during Legacy Day….
Raven made a fist as she leaned her body against the hallway wall, her eyes shut for a instance as she replayed the destiny defying moment when she ever so boldly declared to the entire world of Ever After that she was going to re-write destiny and have her own happily ever after.
She snorted, that went over real well-not.
Ever since that day things had been difficult, even more so than before. It had always been hard being labeled 'evil' just because of her mother and pre-written destiny as the next Evil Queen of Snow White's tale, but being called 'evil' along with selfish (among other less pleasant names and digs) just because she wanted to remain true to herself...that was heart wrenching.
As Raven stood, her arms folded firmly against her chest mentally debating if she would or even should enter the New Year's spellabration, she felt a tap on her shoulder and someone calling her name.
"Huh?" Raven turned her head to see one of the last people she had expected to see, Ashlynn Ella. "Um, hi Ashlynn."
Ashlynn nodded and smiled softly, "What are you doing out here by yourself? The dance is in there."
"I'm not sure I'm going, after all most of the school still hates me-"
"Because you refused your destiny?"
"And because I ripped my page out of The Storybook of Legends," Raven added with a small smug grin.
"Right," Ashlynn began sounding slightly uncomfortable. "But not everyone at this school is upset about what you did...what you did took more courage than most knights ever display."
Raven shrugged, "I guess so…"
Ashlynn looked down for a minute and in a low voice added, "I wish I could be more like you Raven."
This took Raven by surprise, "You," she gestured towards Ashlynn. "Wish to be more like me? The daugher of the Evil Queen who ruined Legacy Day." Raven paused, "Have you been in contact with Maddie's science experiment?"
Ashlynn shook her head and laughed light, "Goddess no. Just because a story has a nice ending doesn't mean life forever after will be a fairy-tale...now come on, 'evil' or not there is a party going on in there. And those shoes were made for dancing in."
Before Raven could respond or even really react, Ashlynn gripped the raven haired girl by the hand and dragged in her in the middle of the festivities.
