I woke up, squinting, there was a little dust in my eyes. That's what happens, working in an inn. I got out of bed early, as always, and began making breakfast in the kitchen. It was 7:00 when my current borders woke up, I could tell by the honking music wafting down the stairs. But you know, it doesn't really matter, the music isn't too bad, and besides, I love my job. I just wish Kafei was about. I'm very worried about him. It was later, aroound 3:00, when he came in. I forgot all about Kafei, which is not an easy thing to make me do. From his dust coated boots, to his forest green tunic, to his big blue eyes, he was like a dream come true. I could scarcely believe it- he wanted a room in the inn, so I let him have the extra room. Oh, what was I thinking? That was reserved already for another, but I gave it to him anyway. He is very handsome, and there's a mysterious, almost magical air about him. A girl like me doesn't see much magic- I see dirty plates, little bugs, sweaty carpenters, dusty floors- that's what I see. This boy is new, different, so fresh and so clean, and so... magical.

I hurried over to Honey&Darling's shop, as soon as he'd gone to his room- I always gossip with my friend Honey about the lads in town, not that there's usually very many. Only around Festival Time really, although something strange is happening this year, and there are barely any to choose from. I hustled into the shop, and Honey turned around fast, readjusting her lipstick, fixing her shirt. Darling, whom she had been making dancing with (I'm sure there was kissing involved as well), wrapped his arms about her waist and kissed her neck. I looked quizzically at her Dominican lover, and she grinned wickedly, shoving his face away gently. He smiled, and turned to his work as Honey and I hurried into the storage room.

"There's this boy I saw today, he's so lovely, I love him!" I blurted clumsily. Honey raised an eyebrow.

"Do you now?" I nodded. "If his name isn't Kafei, which I assume it's not, perhaps you shouldn't." I sighed, but Honey was right.

Let me take this moment to explain something. Honey is slightly slutty after her own fashion. She owns a store, called Honey&Darling's, with whoever her significant other is at the time. She will always be Honey, to me and to everyone else, although her real name is Carrie, and this boyfriend of hers will always be Darling, be his name Frank, George, or Ted. Currently, her Darling's name is Pedro, he's tall, dark-skinned, and beautiful. I know he is, but I don't glance twice at him, he's not my type. Honey and I, we're exact opposites, she the ravishing, daring, black-eyed, sexy woman, I the plain, simple, I suppose slightly pretty, pale girl. I work at an inn, taking care of my grandmother, she owns a dangerous Bombachu territory, with her man by her side. Even through this, these differences, her sluttiness, Honey is loyal. She couldn't cheat, she wouldn't cheat. She'd rather walk up to a "darling" break his heart and find another than have two at a time.

"Alright, Honey. It's not like I'm not worried about Kafei, and I think I'm still in love with him, but this boy just seems so... so... magical." I finished lamely. I wanted a better word, but couldn't think of one. I looked at my best friend and saw her brow crease, then she sighed, and her skin relaxed.

"Do what you have to. I won't lie; I know how this feels. So, what's magic babe's name?" she smiled.

"Link. But, he said I could call him Tony, if I so desired."

"Aha." I looked questioningly at her, then broke out into a fit of giggles. She soon joined my gales of laughter, and somehow, even considering the situation we found ourselves in, it was tears of joy rolling down our cheeks. Well, as opposed to the alternative, see?
