Passports

Matthew looked down at the passport he was about to stamp. Most nations spent time at their borders, checking passports and visas, as part of their governmental duties (those who didn't were usually going through an "interesting time" with their regard to their political state – North Korea hadn't been seen at border control for verging on 50 years). As a result, once the alcohol began flowing (which was practically every social event – and all too often at actual meetings-), border control stories, the wilder the better, were told, complete with actions and funny voices – but Matthew doubted anyone had ever come across this situation before.

Matthew looked at the owner of the passport, before looking down at the passport's cover again. Then he raised his eyebrow at who he supposed was he was little brother.

Peter swallowed and smiled what he hoped was a "take-pity-on-me" smile.

"Please, please don't tell them! I'd never hear the end of it! And…and…it's only until I become real nation! No-one will let me through with a Sealand passport" the boy sighed, "I've tried."

Matthew's heart melted at the disappointed look on Peter's face. He could still remember a time when no one took him seriously either. He stamped the passport and pushed it over the counter.

"Your secret's safe with me."

Peter's resultant smile nearly split his face into and promised Matthew a glomp next time they meet in an informal situation. Grabbing the passport, Peter ran in the direction of the baggage claim. Matthew smiled and turned his attention to his next visitor.

Around the corner, Peter leaned against a wall and studied his passport as he waited for his luggage to appear on the conveyor belt. He smiled and ran his fingers over the words proclaiming him to be a British citizen. Despite all pretence, Peter didn't hate his big brother that much. After all, the man humoured him occasionally, calling him "The Principality of Sealand" when he had introduced him to his Queen and had come to his rescue when that fire had got of hand. As he saw Tino and Berwald come round the corner from having their passports checked he quickly stuffed his passport into the bottom of his rucksack. He didn't knowledge of his affection for his older brother to get out. He had a reputation to uphold after all.

A/N: I read somewhere (I've forgotten exactly where- but I want to say wikipedia…) that all the members of the Sealandic Royal Family carry British passports, so it makes sense in my head cannon that Sealand has one too- although obviously he wouldn't want to make this publicly known. Following the general reaction of the British population towards Sealand, it also makes sense in my head cannon that Arthur treats Peter with a wry smile, indulging him by acknowledging him unofficially (the British State doesn't consider Sealand to be a sovereign territory) yet refusing to acknowledge him unofficially (there is no British ambassador to Sealand).

Hetalia…you make a geek out of me….
