She first noticed the redhead during warm ups before the game, her exuberance and energy just permeated the room and the blonde could tell right away that the yellow team fed off of the girl's excitement.
"Elsa, focus, we are supposed to be stretching, not ogling girls." One of her teammates said teasingly, finally drawing her attention away from the redhead on the opposing team.
Elsa played poorly for the first half of the game, distracted badly by the girl in yellow. She couldn't figure out what was so damn captivating about her energetic opponent. Frustration started to seep into her demeanor, as every time the girl came near her for a play, Elsa felt her limbs become awkward and clumsy. She could tell her team was starting to be annoyed as well, she tried so hard to keep calm and focus on the action.
She saw the ball and blocked out everything around her, slipping into cold, hard game mode. The slender athlete reached out above her head and poured every ounce of determination she had into the play, grabbing for the ball. Only to have the aforementioned yellow player body check her in an attempt on the ball. Elsa could do nothing to stop her fall and watched in horror as the redhead toppled down with her.
Um hold up, she thought, are her hands where I think they are?
Ice blue eyes met olive green, horrified olive green. She blushed profusely, but smiled shyly up at her competitor; to let her know it was all an accident and it was ok. The redhead looked slightly relieved, but responded with a grimace as she offered a hand up.
Elsa endured an abundance of teasing for the rest of the match, though luckily none within earshot of the perpetrator.
She was one of the last to leave the gym following the match, and was accordingly surprised when she felt a tap on her shoulder. Blue eyes now met nervous green eyes and then looked at the proffered hand. "Hi, I'm Anna, you're gorgeous, wait, what? Shit. I mean, I'm sorry. You know. For grabbing your boobs. Can I take you out to dinner?"
Elsa froze, her brain capable of no more than stutters. Is she really asking me out? Wait, what?
Anna took in blonde's icy expression and her face fell, "I'm sorry, I'm fucking this all up, I'm just gonna go…"
"No, wait!" Elsa finally thawed out enough to speak, "why do you want to take me out to dinner?" She was still confused on that.
"What? Oh, as part of my apology." The normally feisty redhead rubbed the back of her neck self-consciously, "I probably should have mentioned that the first time around" Then she offered up a small grin, "and because you're beautiful" she added.
At that, the icy blonde completely melted under the green-eyed girl's gaze.
