It's like the breath is stolen from us,
she swears that it doesn't feel this way
yet when my arms hold her close,
and I breathe her in,
all that I feel is everything she is
I smell the sweetness of candy
as if it became her perfume after all of these years
and I press closer,
tasting bubblegum and chocolate on my tongue,
imagining a world
where I can be more than human,
where I can be her knight
and yet break the code
by marrying her,
watching the shine of white on her skin
from the far too gorgeous dress
that twists and turns around her skin,
captivating me and all that see her
I want this moment to last forever
long before she pulls apart from me
with sad eyes,
and tells me yet again that there's no spark.
