The students lined up looking at the front of the castle. This was the first time they had seen the school. Some of them had siblings who had gone to Hogwarts but none of them had been there themselves.
It was even bigger than they had imagined. It towered over them and was so massive that they couldn't see where it ended. It looked like it went on for miles and miles.
Out of all the students there was a little witch who didn't know what she was getting into. She had lost her mother when she was young and her father had done his best raising her all on his own.
Her name was Sera Calor. Her father was just a muggle so this came as a surprise to the pair of them that she was anything more than just a regular girl. Her mother never told her father that she came from a magic family.
So when the letter came from Hogwarts there was some confusion. Her father had no idea what this school was or why she was being accepted to it but since they weren't a rich family he decided why not let her go. This could be just the thing for her that would give her the education that she needed in life.
Sera was not your regular little witch though. She had no idea that she had magical powers. She had not shown any signs that she was able to do anything special and had lived her life as a pretty normal girl.
So as she walked in the front door she felt nothing but great surprise at everything she saw. The students filling in the hall were all silent and full of nerves and she was exactly the same.
On the train ride over she had sat in a car with 3 other students but she didn't say a word to them. They had sat in deep conversation discussing their families and their first experiences with magic and she had just sat in the corner watching them and listening. One of the students had asked her a question and she had looked away so they had decided to ignore her since she didn't want to participate in the conversation.
Now she stood in a crowd of complete silence. They all looked at the teacher standing in the front of them with huge eyes.
"You are about to walk through these doors and be sorted into your houses. These houses will be your family for the next 7 years. So be honest once you get up there. You want to make sure that you are sorted correctly. Alright everyone follow me."
