SONG OF MASTER SAMWISE GAMGEE

I am just a simple hobbit,

Not much good at anything,

Except for looking after Master,

And doing his gardening.

*

I really don't want to be here.

I wish I was home in the Shire.

There's nowhere I would rather be

Than in my hobbit-hole, in front of the fire.

*

Poor old Mr. Frodo

He can't go on much further.

How can I be the one to wake him,

When to make him go on would be murder.

*

I wish I could see my home again,

Not to die out here in the wild.

I wish I'd told Rosie how I feel

Wish we'd married, maybe had a child.

*

There's no water left for miles around,

And there's no food left, neither.

I don't know what tomorrow will bring,

Once we reach the mountain of fire.

*

I am just a simple hobbit,

Not much good at anything,

But now I have to help Mr. Frodo

Get rid of that cursed ring.
