He knew he should have left that girl back at the bar, but he just couldn't. It was all too similar, all too much like someone took his memory of that time, and did it all over again. The girl reminded him too much of Marie that day, scared and confused. But not of him.
No, she wasn't scared of him. She was afraid of the others, the man who threatened him, and the owner, who could kick her out into the cold.
No, she wasn't scared of him, even if she should be.
As she sat next to him, pressed up tight to the window and the back of the seat, he wondered…
Who was she, this little girl who wasn't afraid of the monster in the seat next to her? Who did she think she was?
"hey, kid," Logan said finally, breaking the silence of the car and turning to look at her, while keeping one eye on the road ahead of them.
She glanced up at him from her position, curled up in her seat.
"Yeah?" she drawled casually, closing her eyes again, and curling up tighter.
"You hungry?" he asked as he reached across her and opened the glove compartment in front of her. He grabbed the choclate bar that was in there and tossed it into her lap.
"Thanks," she muttered as she ripped the wrapper and bit in to the welcome sweet. "Where are we going?" she asked between bites.
He turned to look at her again. Should he…?
"Somewhere safe…for people like us. It's in upper state New York," he said, "What's your name?"
She paused with her eating, and her face went blank.
"See, that's the problem…"
Logan looked at her. "There's no problem, just tell me your name."
She shrugged and gave him a look saying 'whatever you say mister.'
Logan grunted in return.
"They called me X-23."

The third and final installment. (By the way, x-23 was a clone-type person of Wolverine, so, in a sense, they are one and the same. She was created by Weapon X.)
