Peter: "You're kicking me out?"
Neal: "No!"
Peter: *sigh* "Is this because I ran Alex's prints?"
Oh, man.
What was he supposed to tell Peter? That it was because when Peter stayed at his house, they were so close it hurt? That when he saw Peter in a t-shirt and sweats, it was all he could do to literally attack him? That he jacked off at night, moaning Peter's name? That his breath hitched every time Peter's hand brushed his? That he had fallen, deeply and irrevocably for his colleague and friend?
He looked into Peter's eyes, hoping Peter wouldn't see past the façade he had worked so hard to keep up, and simply said,
"It's for so many reasons, Peter."
