Lily wasn't the only one writing to Sirius when they were in hiding. James was too.

Go on. Review. Its sad. I cried when I wrote it.

James wrote this just days before he died.

Dear Padfoot,

I know you don't want to hear this, but I need to tell you. There is a chance, a big chance, that Voldemort will find Lily, Harry and I. I trust Peter with my life, I don't believe he would ever betray me, but if Voldemort finds out that he's secret keeper, I can't imagine Wormtail putting up much of a fight.

So I want you to know that you are the best friend I have ever had. You were always there for me, even when I wasn't there for myself. What am I talking about? Especially when I wasn't there for myself. You were always so loyal.

You never ever let a girl come between us, something that I cannot say about myself. Lily has been a big part of my life since fifth year, and there were times when she came first. Times when she shouldn't have. But still, you stood with me, til she was mine and I am forever thankful.

Sirius, I can't imagine what my life would've been like if you hadn't run me over with your trunk, that day on the first of September.

Well actually I can. I wouldn't have gotten half the ammount of detentions I had. I wouldn't have been a trouble maker. I would have probably been a good student. All in all, I would have led a boring, pointless life. But I didn't. You made sure of that. And I am grateful. More grateful than you can imagine.

You made my life exciting. There was never a dull moment when you were around. All the pranks we pulled, all the jokes we made. Thats what makes us best friends. I honestly cannot remember a time when you didn't make me laugh.

I just want to thank you for being there. For always being there. No matter what.

I want you to know, that no matter what happens, you will always be my best friend.

Yours sincerely,

James Potter.
