"Hey fag!" Blaine turned, his red and white letterman jack fluttering slightly. His eyes widened as he saw one of his new teammates, David Karofsky, shove a boy about his age into the lockers. The team laughed, catching up to Blaine and greeting him with the official handshake of the team. Blaine's smile was weak, but no one noticed. Blaine looked back at the boy in the yellow coat and matching galoshes, wanting to go back and help him, but he couldn't, the flow of people was too much.

This continued for a week before Blaine discovered the reason behind it, from the quarterback, Finn, but only because he was brave enough to ask.

"Hey, so, what's with Karofsky and that kid?" He asked one day after practice as they were pulling their shirts on.

"Kurt? He's gay, Karofsky's a homophobe. Not much else, besides glee club. Everyone on the football team hates glee club, though. Except me, Puck, Mike, and Artie, but that's just because we're in it." Finn replied.

"There's a glee club here?" Blaine asked. "I didn't know that. Are you guys having auditions any time soon?"

"Um...I guess. Glee club's always open to new people." Finn smiled. "You should try out. We can always use another member." Blaine smiled.

"Maybe I will."

Later that week, he was introduced to the club as a new member. Kurt was there, and Blaine smiled at him. Most seemed nervous to be getting a football player, but Finn and the other guys from the team asured them that Blaine was cool.

As Blaine's love of glee club grew, his hatred of Karofsky did as well. As he finally came out to the club, he drew his sexuality in with the team. It was an unconscious thing, self-protection.

"Hey, Anderson!" Blaine didn't look away from his locker, instead putting his Spanish textbook inside it. "Rumour has it you're gay."

"You shouldn't believe everything you hear, Karofsky." Blaine replied, trying to keep his temper in check.

"So it's not true?"

""No, it's true. You just shouldn't believe everything you hear. If I did, I would be thoroughly convinced that you're a closeted transvestite." Blaine closed his locker, looking up at Karofsky. "And leave Kurt alone."

"No."

"Then meet me after practice on the fireld." Blaine said, walking to the cafeteria for lunch.

The next day, Karofsky had a black eye and a broken arm, while Blaine had bruised knuckles, detention, and a date with Kurt that he was thoroughly looking forward to.
