For the Speed Drabble at Hogwarts! – James Potter/Lily Evans, "dust" and "I'm just too brilliant for your puny brain to comprehend."

Note, how's up for some mischief from Mssr. Padfoot?

The Great Hall was bursting with people. At the Gryffindor table, a red-haired witch sat calmly by her friends eating her morning pancakes, until a man with unruly black hair and glasses neared her.

The red-haired witch, known as Lily, didn't even need to turn her head. "No," she said as she took a bite of her food.

From behind her, the man sighed, "Lily, come on! I seriously like you, and I know you like me! It's only natural!"

Lily turned around and narrowed her eyes. "Natural, Potter? I mean, for me, magic is kind of unnatural, supernatural even, so natural things are weird for me,"

James grabbed a loaf of bread from the table and munched. "But, Lily, you only have to go to Hogsmeade with me. Hell, you know what? We can go as friends, or with your friends!" He said trying to reason with the witch.

"No, Potter," she said with a grin, "but maybe next time I'll think about it,"

Then, she grabbed her things and walked out of the Great Hall. Potter slumped his shoulders and went over to where his friends sat.

Sirius Black was pigging out some bacon when Potter approached them. "So, she turned you down, Prongs?"

"She practically looked at me like the dust under her shoes," James said disheartened.

Peter looked up from his big plate of food and shrugged. "She'll come around, Prongs," as to which Remus, who was besides him, nodded.

"She did tell me she'll think about it next time,"

Sirius almost chocked.

Lily Evans walked calmly and alone down a corridor that led to the Transfiguration classroom. She felt someone watching her from behind, so she turned around and rolled her eyes at whom she saw.

"Black," she greeted. "What are you doing here?"

"Nothing," Black said whilst whistling, trying to look innocent.

The witch narrowed her eyes.

"I just wanted to tell you that–" He looked up and saw that James was approaching. "–your skirt looks great,"

Lily spluttered for a second. "Um, what exactly do you mean, Black?"

James was coming closer and closer, a concerned look stretched upon his face.

"But your skirt would look better on Prongs's floor," Sirius said with a grin and he started skipping down into the classroom. Lily turned beet reed and James was just looking at where Sirius had been with wide eyes.

"Did he just hit on you for me?" James asked incredulously.

Lily confusedly nodded. "I think so,"

Sirius's head came out of the door and looked at them with an extremely Slytherin look, "I'm just too brilliant for your puny brain to comprehend."

Lily and James shuddered at the image, but Sirius just smiled again and said, "Have fun!"
