Flamepelts Purity
Chapter 1
Greenleaf was beginning and Flamepelt felt different as she woke up from her long slumber. She didn't know how or why or even if it was a bed thing. Just different. She opened her eyes slowly and lifted her head. A thin stream of sunlight that shone next to her, told Flamepelt that it was morning. Fireheart was sleeping a few rabbit lengths away next to Sandstorm and Graystripe, but as she glanced at him she knew what was wrong. Flamepelt was normally not the jealous type but seeing Sandstorm so close to him made her fur bristle. Sandstorm is sleeping so close to Fireheart! she thought, as she stood up. I think I might love him. She stared at Fireheart for a long moment then looked away, shaking the thought from her head. No, I've known him for moons and I haven't ever liked him before. It can't be real love.
Flamepelt silently padded towards the fresh-kill pile. She hadn't eaten since yesterday and her stomach was rumbling. She found a fat looking vole and carried it in her jaws back to the warriors den. Flamepelt found a place not too near the entrance and settled down to eat. The orange she-cat looked around for the sleeping group of friends but only Graystripe remained. Her eyes opened in surprise. Fireheart must be out with Sandstorm. Just then, a shadow blocked the sunlight that came in through the entrance. Flamepelt turned her head to see Fireheart standing there with his apprentice, Cloudpaw.
"Fireheart" she said. "Where's Sandstorm?" "Out patrolling with Mousefur and Ashpaw" he replied with a slightly nervous look. "I wanted to talk to you. If that's alright?" the Thunderclan deputy asked. Flamepelt nodded and shifted her position to make room for him. "Cloudpaw, why don't you go visit the elders and keep them company." He mewed "Yes, Fireheart" Answered the apprentice and bounded to the Elders den. "What's up?" asked Flamepelt, she picked up a whiff of fear scent. Why is he scared? "Well um.. Flamepelt... the thing is… I wanted to…" he stammered quiet a lot for a smart cat. "Are you ok?" she asked, rather confused. "Yes, I'm alright. I just wanted to ask… If you… liked me at all. As in more than friend. Because I think I love you".
