♥ My Cinderella – A Niles and Daphne Poem ♥
By Larnii(Note: I do not own Frasier. Poem is for entertainment only)
When you first looked at me
I knew somehow it was meant to be
I shook your hand, as strangers would
There was a tingle
You felt it too - I knew you could.
My Cinderella
A few years passed
I loved you, you still unknowing
Untold, Unrequited,
Not showing.
You taught me to dance
And when I saw you that night
- A red dress, my love soared
To a new height.
But you didn't know
Please say your love is so,
My Cinderella.
My heart grew.
You taught me something I never knew
Six years I stared
Unconditionally I cared
I still do.
But what could I -
And how could I say this to you?
My Cinderella.
Then that day
I saw your hand in another's
Another man.
The man in a red-bow-tie, that was me!
Can't you see?
Oh, why did I lie?
To my Cinderella?
I was torn apart,
It broke my heart.
No more dancing,
Friendship as I knew,
No glass slippers left behind from you.
This is no fairytale.
No more Cinderella.
Then one day,
You started looking at me… differently.
Could it be?
No, there's no way you could know,
Is there?
My no more Cinderella?
Your wedding night.
My gut wrenched.
I vowed to keep my lips shut tight.
I'd moved on – got a new wife.
I wanted no more of that old life.
Then something happened.
Is it true?
My could-be-Cinderella?
You knew!
Oh, what to do?
Do you really feel the same way too?
We talked there on your wedding night
We kissed, but you pushed me away
Said we should keep our love at bay
That there was no way
That she could be My Cinderella.
How can it be so?
I wallowed in self-pity
That hideous Winnebago
I couldn't bear to see you wed.
And sit there wishing I were dead.
Hah! No red-bow-ties here.
My unhappy Cinderella.
The door knocked
"Come in" I sighed
It was you!
My eyes opened wide
You came to me!
My love.
My Cinderella.
Now you are mine and I am yours
The slipper fits
I know it's true
I was always meant for you
This is a fairytale, I also knew.
You are my love, my one, and my only,
My Cinderella.
