So this was written for the prompt glint given to me over at Merlin Fanfic Challenges forum. I'm not too proud of this since glint was only used twice and I think I ran away with the other theme far too much. However Beth made me promise to post this one and not to redo it, so here it is! I hope you enjoy it RoseWeasley123, even though it isn't particularly M/M.
A Final Gift, A Stolen Price.
He can hear her screams. So long she had been in this castle, suffering and tortured in silence, yet he had never once heard a sound from her. Now it is all he hears, echoing off corridors and reverberating inside his mind. It is worse than The Great Dragon's demanding call and Excalibur's consistent hum from where it resides in the lake, leaving him weary and paranoid. It is rape in the worse of ways, tearing apart his thoughts and twisting his actions until it is almost ingrained in who he is, who he has become. Protect, serve, live, scream. Repeat, repeat, repeat. It becomes such a ritual that he stumbles and falls to his knees when, like a mercy from heaven, it stops. The peaceful silence of his room so foreign to him now, he feels as though he is dreaming. But no, that isn't right either. Even his dreams hadn't been freed from her rage, an ever present sound breaking through the illusions of all his fantasies. Sometimes he could see her, hair falling in waves around her face and eyes glinting with betrayal as she gasps for air. Other times he can see those same eyes again, yet this time reflected in the shining image of a bejeweled knife.
So now, when a knife lethal and deadly, is unsheathed behind him he pays no mind. He's so lost in the lost feeling of peace that he takes no notice to the sounds of a swishing coat and a muttered spell. Emerald eyes, this time glinting with magic andhate, flashed molten gold, unseen.
