He sat alone in the pitch black deckhouse. Covered only by one tight matted coat. It laid close to midnight, the night glazed over an icy moon. Lights filtering through the blinds. He feels he shouldn't call to her. She's asleep after all. But then maybe she isn't, she could be just pretending. Pretending like she always does. She's all in his head, a harsh reminder of what could have been… something so special. He crosses his arms silently watching. Is she or isn't she? My burden? My maiden? Or is it all just pretend...

He's hoping it's not any of the above….

She sits up alone by the edge of the bed. A single glint of moon drenched upon her porcelain skin. Her expression seems unreadable. as far as he can see. He knows she's awake. But still pretends not to care. Watching the rosy curls of her hair bounce and twirl like fragile thick strings glistening off moonshine. She shifts silently to her right. She not in the mood to play pretend. Not today. She won't look at him. Dare not too. It hurts having to watch him, acting out like everything okay between them. Though it's not. She wants the games to stop; the silly merriments of playing pretend… it needs to stop.

She's hoping they will…

He needed her, wanted her, though she plays reject and easily pushes him away. Calling him absurd, maniacal, crazy.

Crazy Crazy crazy crazy crazy….

God how he loathes that word with passion. It drove him mad just to hear those words escape her mouth. Though it hurt like nothing else. She plays that card oh so well.

But now the tables have turned.

And they're all in his favor.

He had never felt so right. Not in such a long time. He had her here. With him, alone and too himself. Watching the night die down to a golden dusk of new morn. The feeling of her body pressed delicately in his arms. The taste of cherry and hay swallowing her skin. He felt at rest with her here. In his comfort where she should be...

She had never felt so wrong. All those times she felt this was all enjoyments of masquerade. The times she felt he never cared, didn't bother to show it was gone. She found the simpler side of him. A much more peaceful version of himself. He needed her; actually need her for first time. Though she's never felt happier, she takes her place at his side, kissing the gaunt darken face of him. By his side, clutching his bony waist. Sliding her dainty fingers within the fringes of his autumn-smelling hair. While he, who can't but feel at peace, slept soundlessly in her warmth.

The tables have really turned.

He holds the final card

And wins her over in victory...

And she's realized that now.
