So I wrote a JackRabbit fic. Sue me.

Disclaimer: I don't own the characters, just the setting.

"You better know this is all your fault, frostbite!"

"What? You give me the fault for you losing your boomerangs? You must be getting senile, cottontail!"

Rabbitfoot (Real name Aster E. Bunnymund and he was really not happy about the codename) scoffed as he ran over another group of Shadows over only so that Jack Frost (Jackson Overland. The ruddy kid didn't even have the decency to get a proper codename just cause his hair colour changed when he wanted it to.) could freeze them with his ice powers. Pitch(calling himself boogieman for some reason) was on one of his moods again, deciding to attack three cities at once with his shadow army. Normally, it wouldn't have been a big problem but apparently Pitch learned a few new tricks because he was appearing at all three locations at seemingly the same time.

Thus the Guardians were forced to split up with Sandman going on his own while Tooth Fairy and Big Santa teamed up in another city. Sadly, that only left Jack and Aster to work together, much to their chagrin but it was something they had to deal with if they wanted to actually help. Fortunately, however, their powers matched each other almost perfectly so actually working was no big problem.

Running towards the wall that had one of his boomerangs stuck in it, the Speedster sighed in relief as he turned the familiar wood in his hand.

Fantastic. Now he would deal some damage without relying on that snotty brat.

He was ripped out of his thoughts, however, when he heard Jack cry loudly, obviously in pain. He quickly swirled around just in time to see Pitch laugh menacingly, slowly drifting away from the boy and out of his reach. Without thinking, Aster threw his boomerang but it flew right through the prick as he dissolved into black dust. Looking at Jack again, bunnies eyes widened when he saw a Fearling coming at him, the boy making no move to dodge.

Aster really wasn't sure what exactly happened next. One moment he was standing at the end of the street, watching in horror and the next he was already holding Jack in his arms, pressed firmly against his chest and out of harm's way.

"What exactly are you thinking, frostbite?! Why didn't you move?!" he shouted but all his anger faded away when he heard the blond groan, clutching at his chest. "Hey, what's wrong with ya?" His accent was slipping again but he couldn't care about that right now.

"Staff... Bound to it... hurts..."

"W-Whu... I don't get it, can't ya summon it back or somethin'?" Normally Jack would just summon his staff and it would be there, he really didn't get what the problem was.

"Can't... He took it... by force..." He looked like he wanted to say more but a cry of pain ripped through his throat, making arch his back. Aster had to tighten his grip so that the teen wouldn't fall over. "He's... damaging it... I can't..." His partner only nodded, understanding what he wanted to say. Obviously, the kid couldn't walk, let alone fight like that and the longer his staff was away from him, the longer he would hurt. Setting Jack down where the Fearlings couldn't get to him, Aster started running, searching for Pitch.

He didn't know how he had taken Jack's staff, he didn't know how he knew that it would hurt him that much but one thing was clear.

Aster didn't want to see Jack in pain and Pitch was going to get a beatdown for hurting the kid.
