Reflecting On Those Days
This is a Wicked one shot during Shiz after Popular. Inspired by a picture I saw on the Internet of Elphaba with a Kick Me! Sign on her back, and Galinda, standing next to her with a Don't You Dare sign on hers. It got me thinking. Angst towards the end. One Shot
A cluster of students circled around Elphaba, their jeering eyes never leaving the green girl's face. Galinda sighed as she watched them, they always did this everyday. Every single day Elphaba would get mocked, laughed, teased, bullied, you name it, and she never did anything about it. As Elphie's new best friend, Galinda decided that it was time to intervene.
As Galinda started to walk over to her, one of the students taped a "Kick me!" sign on Elphaba's back.
This gave Galinda a brilliant, and very rare idea. She stopped walking, took out a piece of paper from her pink bag, scribbled some words on it, and taped it to her own back. Afterwards she walked over to Elphie, who was immersed in a book as usual not even noticing the crowd of students. Galinda gave them all dirty looks, and they soon backed off, and walked away. Galinda stood next to Elphaba, looking out at the premises.
"It's a nice day today," said Galinda making conversation, and giving her new best friend a dazzling smile.
Elphaba looked up from her book to stare at Galinda.
"I guess it is," she said softly, now looking at the sky.
"Come on, let's go give you another new makeover!" Galinda exclaimed excitedly, pinching Elphaba's hand and dragging her back to their room.
"Again?" whined Elphaba as she reluctantly followed the bubbly blonde.
As they capered down the hall, all of the other students stared at the two of them, and Galinda smiled to herself.
Elphaba had a "Kick me!" sign on her back, and Galinda put a "Don't you dare!" sign on her own back.
They really were becoming two best friends…
Glinda the Good looked at the two pieces of crumpled paper that she had discovered in one of her old desks with tears streaming down her face. She remembered that day. They were both so young, and thought they knew everything.
She smoothed out the pieces of paper with her hands, and a tiny smile crossed her face.
Even if Elphaba were dead, Glinda would never forget her. The "Kick me" sign and the "Don't you Dare!" sign reminded her of that. Glinda then placed the two papers in a box that had Elphie's hat, bottle, and the Grimmerie in it. The box was labeled, "Elphaba."
"I'll miss you Elphie," whispered Glinda as she closed the box and put it away….
