When I introduced myself to the then Gunnery Chief Ashley Williams, I did not think anything of it. She was gorgeous, sure. But I was so involved with fighting the geth that I didn't really notice anything extraordinary. It was once I got to know her more than a typical grunt, she began to really make an impression on me. From being a person that allows her heart to lead the way to the gigantic chip on her shoulder from the "Williams Curse", she was a crazy puzzle that increased my interest in her little by little.
But I only considered her a friend.
Then Liara came along.
Once Liara came into the picture, Williams began to show a more pissed off side. At first I chalked it up to her hatred of alien species, but I noticed that she was developing a bromance with Wrex. That's weird… I confided in Kaiden to get some sort of answer.
What he told me kinda threw me off.
"Sounds like she is jealous of Liara."
Okay, I didn't expect that kind of answer.
I quickly looked at him in utter confusion as I replied with a confused, "What? No way Alenko. That makes no sense. What does Liara have that she doesn't?"
He doesn't even flinch as he continues to sip on his drink before casually turning the page for some manual on his implants. If anything, he sounds bored when he said, "Currently, more of your attention."
"Yeah, because she is new to the ship and having a bit of an existential crisis knowing that her mother can cause the demise to life as we know it."
With that, he finally looked up from his book and let out a sigh likely knowing that he won't be able to finish reading the manual in peace until I get some kind of answer.
"With all due respect Shepard, even Chakwas has noticed that the Asari has a thing for you."
"Wait what? Since when?"
Kaiden simply answered the question with a 'what do you think?' look that reduced any possible response I had in my head to a subtle, "Ah."
"Yeeeah… Well, good luck with that!" Kaiden quickly muttered as he gave me a hearty pat on my shoulder and exited the dining hall to leave me to my thoughts.
So, here I am. Waiting in my quarters to meet with Ashley to gain some more clarification as to why she is giving Liara the cold shoulder. I don't know why, but my heart seems to be going crazy right now. Even in times of ridiculous odds against me, my heart never went this crazy. Probably should see Chakwas after meeting with Ash.
My thoughts are interrupted by a knock on my door.
Well, here goes nothing.
