A/N: This takes place before the TV show The Good Karma Hospital starts.
Four months before Debbie gets married Maggie has a seizure and is rushed to the hospital. Her husband Paul is with her at the hospital. The doctor comes into the room and tells them that they want to run test on her. They do a CT scan and a MRI on her to see what they turned up. And the doctor comes into the room and Paul has gone home for the night. The doctor tells Maggie that they want her to stay in the hospital overnight for observation and that they would have the results the next day.
Before Paul gets to the hospital the next day the doctor comes into the room and tells her that she has a brain tumor. And that the next stop is for her to come into the office and discuss a treatment plan. When Paul arrives the doctor tells her that she can go home. But she has to take it easy until the appointment with the doctor.
Maggie gets the date for her doctor's appointment. Then when she tells Paul she has a doctor's appointment he asks her if she wants him to go with her. She says no she doesn't. Then when Maggie gets to the doctor she goes in and the doctor shows her the size of the brain tumor. The doctor suggests radiation to reduce the size to operate on the brain tumor. She refused to do it. Then the doctor asks her if she wants to live to see her grandchildren. She says that she wants to live long enough to see her daughter get married. Then she wants to make the best of whatever time she has left in this lifetime.
Then she, Paul and Debbie leave for India. They arrive a week before the wedding.
