Can she see me?

Sokka looked up at the bright moon. It was completely full and seemed larger than ever. Or maybe it had always been that large. He wouldn't know. He'd never really looked at it. Not since… the North Pole.

Can she hear me?

"Princess Yue," Sokka said softly, "we picked up an earthbender to teach Aang. Her name is Toph. She's kind of mean, but you'd probably like her. With her help, Aang is getting even stronger. Katara is growing up. She's a master waterbender. It's weird. And even though the Fire Nation is chasing us, we're fine."

Sokka kicked a pebble.

'And what about you…' That's probably what Yue would ask him.

He didn't really know how he was. He laughed a little. "I almost got killed by an angry saber toothed moose lion and this crazy Fire Nation girl keeps hitting on me while she's trying to kill me. But I'm… fine though." His last sentence was less than believable.

He continued anyway, "There was this really cool library that I donated valuable knowledge to, but the owl spirit guy said we were abusing the great knowledge and took it back to the spirit world or something. Hah. We almost died. But! Because of my amazing bravery, we have discovered something that will help bring down the Fire Nation. Appa's missing though. But we'll find him. Don't worry."

Sokka was rambling. "Um… so, how are you?"

The wind blew through the tall trees. They almost looked like they could touch her.

"Yeah. I wish you would say something…"

Silent as ever, the moon glowed brightly.

Many feet away, Toph could hear Sokka from her earth tent. She could hear the sadness in his voice.

"Good night Yue," Sokka murmured as he walked to his sleeping bag.
