It was supposed to be the honeymoon of their dreams, the one they'd been waiting for years for, but because of something as annoying and uncontrollable as the weather, Sydney and Adrian were trapped in the snow covered resort. Adrian found it amusing and called it a paradise and chance of fate. His new wife called it a prison and karma.
"You know, Sage, if you look any more annoyed I might just be insulted," he smirked as she sat stiffly in an armchair facing the window.
"In case you were absent at the ceremony yesterday, my name isn't Sage anymore," she shot back.
He smiled, "I was there. It was beautiful. You were beautiful, like my very own snow queen bathed in white, though your aura was a bright opposite."
She sighed. She'd learned to love the craziness in him, but sometimes, usually when it involved him complimenting her, she just wished it would disappear.
"And if you're my snow queen, that would make me kind, would it not? King Adrian of the Icicles and his gorgeous wife, Queen Sydney of the Snowflakes," Adrian announced to no one.
"Why 'Kind of Icicles'?" she asked, though she knew she would probably regret it.
Adrian's green eyes practically glowed with mischief, "Because they're long, hard, and dangerous."
Yep, definitely regretting it.
"Speaking of danger, why wouldn't you dance with me at all yesterday? I thought you loved your husband," he taunted.
"The last time we danced nearly gave my boss and coworker a heart attack. Our two worlds still don't approve of us, but they're trying. No way I was going to upset that tension with a dance."
Adrian pouted, "I never go to dance with you."
"Was the dance really that important to you?"
"Yes," he said with a hard nod of his head. They sat in silence for a moment before suddenly he grabbed her hand and pulled her out the door, despite her loud protesting, into the blizzard of snow.
She shivered against her thick sweater and even her toes felt cold in her lined boots, "Where are you taking me?"
"Out here."
"Why?"
He walked them over to a small clearing area, surrounded by hedges, though the snow still blew around them. He took her in his arms and began moving her around to a nonexistent beat.
"Dance with me, Snow Queen," he smiled, sending shivers down her spine. "I command it."
She laughed after being dipped, "I've been known to defy commands before."
He brought his face closer to hers with a smile, "Never from me, Sage."
"I'm not Sage," she gasped.
"You'll always be Sage to me."
I had a dream about this last night, so I decided to post it. Please review.
