Board Games

Author's Note: I am absolutely in love with Bobby Goren/ Alex Eames of Law and Order: Criminal Intent. And I absolutely love fluff. And that leads to…this little fluffle bunny. Just for fun!
"Bobby?" Detective Alex Eames raised an eyebrow at her partner. "Bobby?"
"Sorry," Detective Bobby Goren shook his head, "What?"
"Just wanted to see if you were ready to leave...I'm heading out," Alex was standing beside her desk, pulling on her coat. "You should too. Bobby?"
"Yeah?" Bobby glanced up at her from his desk.
"You look like shit. Come on." Alex nodded her head towards the door.
A long day, a long week, both detectives were tired and ready to crash. But...
"I'm tired but too-too wound up, want to come over?" Bobby was pulling on his coat, kicking his chair into his desk. "How about board games?"
"At your apartment?" Alex said, looking up at him, surprised. "Sure."
Bobby grinned and followed her out the door.

"What? No fair! Snarf is not a word!" The short detective said, trying to push his scrabble chips off the board.
"It is," Bobby insisted, "I snarf down food! Hey, no fair, Eames!"
She had smacked away the s and the n, leaving arf.
"Hah!" She leaned forward, sitting up on her knees to try to push away the rest.
Bobby grabbed her hands, one smaller hand in each of his bigger ones. "Cheater," He grinned, leaning across the table, "You can't erase my word!"
"Oh, I can't?" Wiggling free of his grip, she launched at him, hitting him square in the chest and knocking him backwards against the floor. She landed on top of him, her eyes lined up so perfectly with his.
They sat there, her straddling him for a second, a moment in time, suspended between them.
She leaned closer.
"Alex," Bobby whispered, "You can't erase...wh-what happens."
"Good," Alex whispered, just as quietly, "Because I'll never want to erase this."
And Alex leaned over, pressing her lips to Bobby's. His arms around her waist, their lips pressing together...perfect was the only word Bobby could ever come up with.
You can't erase what happens. You can't go back. And sometimes...you don't ever, ever want to.
