Obi-Wan's dreams were different that night. Jedi were not supposed to have dreams, but he was no Jedi. Not anymore. Not after the destruction of the Order.
He was in a room. It was somewhat large. Objects were scattered around it, yet those seemed of no importance, seemed to fade into the background. The one thing he noticed was a mirror. On the top of the mirror, Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi was carved.
Obi-Wan wondered what it said, as it looked like no language he had seen before. His natural curiosity took hold of him and he walked over to the mirror.
As he gazed into the mirror, figures appeared next to him. First, his old Master, Qui-Gon, stood next to him. "That's not possible," Obi-Wan thought, "he died back on Naboo, all those years ago." He did not want to relinquish his hold on his past.
Satine appeared behind him next. Obi-Wan's throat constricted as he thought of the past, of her death. She had been killed so tortuously by Maul.
Finally, Anakin now stood beside him. This was the final confirmation that this was not real. Only a few years ago, Anakin had turned to the dark side, and betrayed the Jedi. Obi-Wan had last seen him on Mustafar, where he had left him to die.
A churning realization left him startled. This was what he most wanted, what he most desired.
In the morning, a thought had lingered from his dream. "Just because it's in your head, doesn't mean it's not real."
