A/N: If there's one outstanding feature of these books, it's the characters. They're so much fun!
Too bad I haven't the ideas nor the patience to write a long-winded adventure with them...
You'll just have to settle for this! :)
Visions
"Yes!" Alice squealed suddenly, breaking the silence explosively. The delighted shriek that followed, as she saw more of the future, rang out across the clearing.
"Argh! What the hell, Alice?" Emmett shouted in shock, not having been blessed with his sister's foresight. He whipped around immediately to leap after the cheetah he'd been stalking in silence, but it was long gone. Alice's outburst had startled everyone, and the forest was completely silent.
Emmett growled, annoyed. He turned to glare at Alice.
"Yay! This is so totally fantastic!" Alice continued completely hyperactively, oblivious to Emmett's despair. Jasper grinned as she happily twirled around him. He was just as confused as Emmett, but Alice's good mood was infectious.
Emmett sat down on a nearby rock, still grumbling about the loss of his meal.
"So what happened, Alice?" Jasper asked, trying to catch her as she danced excitedly around him. She dodged his hands, but paused anyway.
"I'm not sure if I'm allowed to tell you…" She frowned slightly, and then her face went blank. A second passed before the huge grin was back. "Yes, he's going to tell us when we get back, anyway!"
"Edward?" Jasper assumed.
"Yes!" Alice jumped up and down, looking like she was going to implode. "He's—…they're—!"
"Spit it out already!" Emmett demanded, becoming more annoyed by each second that Alice withheld her information.
"Edward and Bella are getting married!" she practically shouted, squealing again. She clapped joyfully, spinning like a ballerina. The phrase, 'bouncing off the walls,' came to Jasper's mind, but he kept it to himself.
"That's great," he agreed, a little surprised.
"You're kidding me! Like, with a wedding and stuff?" Emmett made no attempt to hide his surprise, his mouth hanging open. Nobody answered his question, and after a moment, his face became smug.
"I bet Bella trips down the aisle."
"I bet she doesn't," Jasper answered immediately, thinking of Alice.
"You're on," Emmett smiled.
"Come on, Emmett, do you really think I'd let her ruin her wedding like that?" Alice chided, shaking her head.
Jasper and Emmett exchanged a knowing glance. Alice had ways and means to get what she wanted. There was no doubt about that.
"Oh…" Alice muttered, seeing more of the future. Abruptly, her face fell, and she looked like she would cry.
"What now?" Emmett asked immediately, thoroughly irritated. Jasper put a comforting arm around her and looked at her with concern.
"…They're running away to Vegas and not telling me."
Emmett's booming laugh changed the atmosphere abruptly, and even Jasper couldn't stifle a grin.
"But you know anyway," he pointed out.
"Yeah…" she said shrewdly, obviously planning something.
"It'll work out," Jasper promised, kissing her gently.
"Yeah, and maybe I'll get some lunch," Emmett grumbled, sniffing the air for something to hunt.
"Hmm…" Alice mumbled, looking into the future. "Not for another hour, I'm afraid," she said, sighing dramatically.
"…I hate your visions."
Alice simply grinned, then sat down on a nearby rock, pulled out a pen and a notebook, and began making wedding plans.
