Jenna watched sadly as Matty McKibbon walked into school hand and hand with the new girl in their class, Stella. She remembered the time in summer camp, of her and Matty in the utility closet- but then Jake Rosati, her boyfriend broke her train of thought.
"It's good that he's got himself a girlfriend," Jake said as he was still unaware of what had been going on with Matty and Jenna for the few months leading up to the Winter Formal, when Jenna had chosen Jake over Matty.
For the past while she had felt guilty, not to mention sad, after finding out that it might have been her mother who wrote the care-frontation letter. She still hadn't told Lacey that she had found the stationery pad in the kitchen drawer yet, as she wanted to be sure of her suspicions.
"What do you think?" Jake asked her, looking at her with his blue eyes. Jenna smiled.
"It's good he has someone now." Jenna answered."
And I was right. It was good that Matty had someone. And I definitely wasn't sad about one thing – That I had chosen Jake over Matty, because everytime I looked into his eyes I knew that he was the one for me. He didn't treat mne like a nobody when there were other people around... I think I'm beginning to really, really like him. The Matty fantasy was almost gone from my head by than… that is until what I saw next.
Jenna leaned towards Jake and they kissed, sitting side by side on the grass of the schoolground. Then out of the corner of her eye, when she and Jake broke apart, she saw Matty looking at her, a disappointment all over his face. The pang of guilt returned.
