Summary: Ed realizes the bond him and his brother share when he is truly separated from him. -SPOILERS! If you haven't seen the rest of the series.-

A/N: This is my first oneshot! (WOO!) So please R&R, give me comments, and please tell me if I should throw away my career of a OneShot writer now so I don't waste my keyword's time. (Warning, there are a couple spoilers. I'll just tell you now. It lets you know that Ed was cast to the other side of the gate in order to revive Alphonse Elric in his original body.)

A blonde haired boy at the age of 14 walked down the streets of Central. His long hair was pulled back into a braid and he wore a long, blood red jacket over a pair of black leather pants and shirt. His gloved hands were buried into his pockets, and a rather large suit of armor walked next to him.

"Brother, shouldn't we head to Headquarters?" the armor asked, acknowledging the shorter boy he was following.

"Yeah Yeah, I know Al. But the Colonel can wait a few more minutes. We just got to Central, why not look around? Or eat..." he said, sounding famished in his words.

The armor sighed. "Sure Ed, whatever you say."

Two years later, Alphonse Elric was experimentally made into the philosophers stone in Loire. The entire city and all of the soldiers inside gave sacrifice to create it...and the legendary stone that ignores the laws of alchemy was handed over to the two brothers that had been seeking it for so long.

With it's power, Alphonse was able to revive his older brother from death, but at an exchange of the entire stone, and his soul along with it. Not being able to live with the fact his brother gave himself for him, Edward did the same. He performed one last human transmutation, offering his own life for the existence of Alphonse Elric.

But when Edward came to, he was cast upon the other side of the gate, out of Amestris and into a country called Europe. On this side of the gate, science and chemistry existed in the place of Alchemy.

"I exchanged my life for his...yet, I'm alive."

Edward Elric set out on a mission to study rockets so he could have a chance to see his own world again...meet his brother again.

Meeting a young man by the name of Alphonse Heiderich, Ed was surprised to figure out by himself that the boy was this world's counterpart of his brother. With new hopes, they go together to research and develop the liquid fuel rockets.

"Ed! We shouldn't stop now, we're nearly to Transylvania!" A young man with short blonde hair objected, watching an equally blonde boy with his long hair pulled back into a ponytail walk into a small town square.

"We've been on that train for hours, and besides, aren't you hungry Al?" Ed asked. Al sighed, giving in, and walked past his companion into the street.

"Sure Ed, whatever you say."

Ed stopped; those words brought back a memory... And he swore, he could hear the armored footsteps of his brother walking ahead of him. The words of his father rang back into his head, 'You guys traveled. The people you met during that time, the things you saw, the pain, the hard-work; everything you experienced...was that not your sacrifice?'

Edward smiled, feeling content as he pondered his thoughts. "You coming Ed?" Al asked, noticing he wasn't moving.

The blonde smiled, taking a few steps forward. "Yeah Al. I'm coming. I'm coming Alphonse."

A/N: So? Did you like? Did you actually GET IT? It'd make more sense if you've seen all of the series and/or movie. But if you haven't, I hoped I explained it nicely! Sorry if I ruined the end for you, at least I didn't tell you Ed was killed by Envy!
