This was given to me as a school assignement by my english literature teacher. The rules were the following:
= the text should be a poem
= you should create a magical setting
= you should use non-existent words
= it is mandatory for your poem to contain a message
At first I wanted to do something about sexual abuse and how you can survive it using solely the characters from Miss Peregrine's home for Peculiar children ( this poem will be available on my profile shortly ) but then I watched Kingdom of Heaven for the 5th time and I decided to mix the two stories, using the scene in which Sybilla poisons Baldwin because it truly is my favorite scene in this movie ( I cry everytime I watch it )... Enjoy !
On cold marble I lay,
Softly caressing his head
On a trembling body he lays,
Trembling for he is dead.
~o~o~
Tears land on his cheeks,
On his eyes,
On his mouth,
Quickly erased by the graze of milk-white hands.
Hands that killed him.
Those hands, are they mine ?
Am I the monster who killed this sweet, innocent child ?
~o~o~
Metal hits the ground.
A whole bottle of poison,
How could I ?
~o~o~
I pick it up, bring it to his ear;
I can almost hear the liquid
Sliding inside his ear.
But the bottle is empty.
Could I be that crazy ?
~o~o~
Echoing through the wall, a loud noise
Brings me back to reality:
Where once stood a marble wall
There is the most beautiful of gardens.
~o~o~
A tall, well-dressed woman
Approaches us:
"My name is Alma Lefay Peregrine,
People of my kind are called Ymbrines.
You might have recognized Heaven _
Isn't it a beautiful garden ?
Here your son I shall bring
Here he'll finally be safe from Hollows
For in Heaven is only peace
So everyone can rest in peace.
Heaven, in fact, is a dreamworld,
Where people play, eat and love.
Your son will be welcome in my household,
For a Peculiar he is:
You might have known him pure and innocent
For his heart is made of gold".
~o~o~
As quickly as it all had appeared
It disappears
And my Baldwin's body with it.
~o~o~
'You did kill him, Sybilla'
Says a voice in the back of my head,
'But you did it because you didn't
Want him to suffer
From being a leper.'
That's it, I hope you guys liked it ! The prose version will be available shortly on my profile too ;-) ( sorry for the formatting, it seems that the iPad version of doesn't support stenzas so far )
