Chapter One: The Decision

It was a cold, dark, and rainy night, every time the thunder crashed you could see the silver outline of an equally cold knife.

Yugi Motou, King of Games, Champion of Battle City Tournament stared at the knife with inhuman intentions.

'Why?' thought Yugi. 'Why did they all betray me? What did I do wrong?' whimpered Yugi pitifully.

"Yugi..." whispered an eerily familiar, but mysterious voice.

"Shadi!!!!?" exclaimed Yugi with surprise.

"Yugi...." replied Shadi "your time in the world of the living is not yet over. Don't try to kill yourself...yet."

"But...but, I have no purpose here anymore!" exclaimed Yugi with tears in his eyes. "Yami's got his own body and the 3 Egyptian god cards and my life!" yelled Yugi with bitter resentment in his voice. " I'm sorry Shadi." apologized Yugi. "I guess with all that happened my self control broke."

"It's all right, little light. That is why I came to help you." replied Shadi.

"Help me?!!!" said Yugi with evident hope.

"Yes, little light. There is a spell that is as old as Yami and as powerful as an Egyptian god card." replied Shadi.

"What does the spell do?" asked Yugi with curiosity .

"It takes all your pain and forms it into another soul." whispered Shadi.

"You mean, like another Yami?!!!" cried Yugi in disbelief.

"Sorta like a Yami.... but more like a shadow of all your pain." said Shadi "Tonight is the only night we can perform the ceremony for the Splitting of Pain! Make your decision now, little light!"

'What should I do?' thought Yugi. 'Should I accept Shadi's proposal or should I refuse? Should I-'

* It's not like you even have a choice!* snapped the nasty voice in his head. *You have nothing to lose. So, I say you go for it!*

'He's right.' thought Yugi. ' I really don't have much of a choice, so I might as well go for the best of it.'

" I accept Shadi. What do I have to do?" answered Yugi with confidence in his voice.
