Leah stared up at the stars. She had just phased back to her human form and was lying on the forest floor with some shorts and a top on. She was lying her head at the base of a tree trunk and some moss.

Sam had been patrolling somewhere in La Push and he was so into his thoughts, and because she was silent in hers, he didn't hear her.

Leah closed her eyes. Sam had been thinking about Emily. Of course. He was thinking about earlier on that day. How they had time to themselves and had fun baking cookies and then eating them cuddling on the couch. He was re-thinking about how happy he was with Emily, how her smile lit up his world. Leah swallowed hard. The picture of him looking so lovingly into her eyes almost had her bending over in pain. But she held it in.

Keep it together Leah. One of them could leap in here seeing the bitchy old Leah actually crying. Reputation is all you have. Don't lose it.

But it was too much. She turned her face into the moss and wrapped her arms around her head so that if one of those puny chuwawas came, she could fake it and pretend she was taking a nap.

Smelling the moss, Leah tried to calm herself. This pain was really getting old. It had been almost two years since the imprint, so why couldn't it seem to just fade?

Because once upon a time, Sam loved her. Loved her before those damn leeches came to town, loved her before he phased, loved her before he imprinted. She remembered wrestling him on the forest floor and ending up kissing. She remembered how his arms used to feel around her, those arms that seemed to make all the danger and worry dissappear.

"Ah.." Leah breathed heavily, as the first tears came from her scrunched up eyes.

She loved him. So so much. But imprint dictated that this person was meant for you, that you two were ultimate. That you were soul mates. And she knew that she wasn't meant for him, but she possessed the love for him that could make an imprint seem insignificant. Why couldn't Sam see that?

"Leah, I love you and only you. Never doubt that. No imprint could ever change that." He had said as held her face and pulled her into his strong, warm arms a long, long, time ago.

Leah sobbed quietly into the moss, so as not to be heard by the inhuman ears of the pack.

How easily promises were broken these days.

She struggled to breathed through her sobs. "Sam.. Why? I loved you, so much. You promised. You promised we'll always be together. You promised me 2 little kids turning into cute pups as they got older.. You promised that you'd love me..that you'd love me.. No matter what."

She calmed herself down, rubbing the moss off her face. She turned her face towards the sky again and lay there. She sighed.

"Man, you even promised me we'd reach the stars." She said, as she chuckled quietly to her self, letting the last of probably a gallon more tears, escape the corners of her eyes.

After awhile, she pushed herself up into a sitting position. Then she stood up and crouched. She started running, picking up more speed. And suddenly, she leaped off a grassy hill and landed on four paws. Her trademark smirk, well wolf-smirk, plastered on her face.

She ran and ran, in circles around the forests, to wherever her heart would lead her.

As the midnight wind whipped around her fur, she just had one thought in her head.

You even promised me "I go, wherever you go."
