Disclaimer: I don't own the Mortal Instruments, just this plot and a few characters here and there.

Note: I was almost late wasn't I? In any case, for those of you that have read this story before, know that the story will have new twists and will be in a different format. Shorter chapters is the game. 200 word drabbles every chapter. I hope you enjoy the changes. Just so you know: I am not opposed to a prompt for the chapters.

The current chilled Clary to the bone as she huddled in the shadows. Somehow, she had to get through without being seen. Pulling her hood lower over her face, Clary swam through the crowded streets, stopping when she heard the guard's booming voice.

Goosebumps erupted over Clary's skin.

"King Valentine has issued a new decree to renew efforts to rid our streets of the sea urchins and of the thieves that plague our towns. Likenesses of them shall be spread. Should you see any of these mer-folk, report it to the palace immediately. A reward of one Sandollar for every criminal you turn in."

The guards left in a flurry of water, leaving the crowd in awed gasps.

All over the town, posters upon posters filled the streets. Clary looked up only to freeze.

There in black and white was her face. "Red hair, green eyes, golden tail," the caption read.

Clary shook herself out of her stupor. Simon was sick, and he wasn't about to get better without the medicine.

Gripping the flask even tighter, Clary slowly swam out of the town, ignoring the snippets of conversation. She didn't have time to worry about the price on her head.
