3:17 AM.
That was the time that Hideyoshi saw on his digital clock, the red numbers drawing the attention of his focus. He was tired, yes, but after waking up a little over a half hour ago, he had been unable to fall asleep. He didn't know why, maybe because it was a little colder than usual? It was midwinter-time, yes, so of course it would be colder than it had been in the year. But still, it seemed even colder than usual. He wasn't shivering or anything, but he could still feel the cold air biting at him. He had put extra blankets on his bed, but even then it still was cold.
He climbed out of bed, wrapping his arms around him as he came into contact with the cold air. He wondered if the heater was on, and if it was, was it working. He thought to make his way to it as he stepped outside of his room, but his eyes were drawn instead towards Yuuko's room. His feet carried him to her door without him willing them to; his hand going to pull it open before he could even began to think about the consequences of such an action.
Yuuko was asleep, as cold as it was in her room as it had been in his. She had also had the idea to draw extra covers onto her like he had. He walked up to her bed, wondering if he should wake her or just go ahead and climb in for the warmth of her bed and her body heat. She would probably punish him later if he did, but he needed a good night's rest for the day.
As he was still debating on what to do in the cold, his body shivering as his hands rubbed at his arms, Yuuko sighed and spoke. "Go ahead and get in."
She's awake!? Hideyoshi briefly thought as he looked upon Yuuko's face, her eyes opening slightly to look at him. "Get in." Her voice was commanding, taking away Hideyoshi's doubts.
He climbed over her, slipping down into the covers behind her. It was warmer with her body heat mixed with the warmth of the blankets. "Just stay on your-" Her voice cut off as Hideyoshi was already wrapping his arms around her, snuggling against her with his head right behind hers. Despite the cold, his sister was so warm.
She didn't finish what she had been saying, but he could feel her relax as she sighed once more. "Good night, Hideyoshi."
Hideyoshi didn't respond, his breath falling against her neck as he slept. Yuuko glanced back at him with her eyes, turning her head slowly and only the minimal amount. A smile crept up onto her face. "Good night, dearest brother." She whispered softly.
Even though he was sleeping, the telltale sign of a smile formed on his face.
